Well, it's the talk of the town... Japan won this year's Miss Universe pageant.

But...there seems to be quite a number of controversies resulted from this winning...

Some Japanese articles have mentioned about Kurara Chibana (Miss Japan 2006)'s status in Japan being threatened by Riyo Mori (Miss Japan 2007).

Some prefer Kurara to Riyo because the former has more charm, elegance and (quite obviously) beauty. (Check Japan Today's website: http://www.japantoday.com/jp/popvox/737).

If your opinion is being asked as to whom do you prefer, which Miss Japan will you pick? And why?

i would pick Miss Japan 2006 cuz she's more beautiful and she could speak many languages. She could speak English while Miss Japan 2007 can't. So i think that Japan 2006 deserves to win more.

Can't vote because I do not know how either of them look like . Can anyone provide a pic first. Haven't watch Miss Universe for so long.

didnt Miss Japan 2007 go to high school in Canada? As far as I know she's even enrolled in a University in Canada (u of waterloo), from what some of my friends say (who knew ppl in the same class with her) and few local newspaper articles...

Riyo Mori oughtta speak SOME english after all those years in Canada, no?

Personally I prefer Kurara Chibana.... maybe because she SHOULD HAVE won in 2006.

Riyo Mori's smile looks pretty in the first picture,,, but to vote I would pick Kurara Chibana.

Riyo Mori is a diva, her personality seemed so fake to me
and I'm so angry she won Miss Universe
she did not deserve it.

Kurura Chibana she seems so nice
but she is way overrated to me
I was glad she didnt win last year
I'm probably the only one that was happy she lost
remember when she answered her question in french??
To me it seemed like she was showing off and I was turned off

Well... I didn't think Kurara Chibana was a show-off at the pageant, it was just spontaneous. But true... she could have lost some points due to that.

About Riyo Mori's seemingly fake personality... Hmmm... Well... there was a blog entry posted by Ines Ligron (but she deleted it after huge uproars from the Filipinos regarding a comment made about their delegate), conveying what Riyo Mori had said to her over the phone about her counterparts. And from the contents of that particular blog entry, it seems likely that Riyo Mori is a young and rather..."bitchy" girl. She's probably not that mature after all since she's only 20 going on 21.

But once again, we all have a degree of bitchy-ness in us, don't we?

Let's just see how Riyo Mori can contribute to the world with her title. The world is watching... not so sure about Japan though because they really don't pay much attention to Miss Universe, according to some Japanese's comments.

Last but not least, an Asian won Miss Universe this year. All Asians should be proud of this fact...

Kurara Chibana HANDS DOWN!!! I thought she was going to win for sure last year. I was shocked when she lost and I am shocked that Riyo Mori won this year. oh well. Japan 1st runner up in 06 and wins in 07...Japan has to be happy.

I'm sure we are all bitchy at times, but I still can't stand Riyo Mori
I think she's pretty and there were things I did like about her, but when she won
I was angry because I felt there were so many better delegates that got robbed, like Miss Tanzania, Miss Greece etc.

I'm not asian so I'm not the person that roots for anyone just because we are the same nationality, but I guess asians should be happy for her.

I have to say Miss Japan 2006. She was robbed in the 2006 competition everyone thought she had a shot. But noooo Miss Puerto Rico won. But I'm glad Japan won for a change, at least its not as repetitive.

i'm from brazil and the people here were crazy because the miss brazil lost for miss japan...

but i prefer the miss japan hahhahaha

and the miss japan from 2k6 is more beautiful than 2k7, but of course they are soooo beautiful...
