sopcast 3.24 does not support recording the channel which is not on the channel list.

but sopcast 3.03 can do this ,only click the red round button above the small WMP.

The recorded file should be resized, but I don't konw which software could use to edit an "asf" file.

Best way is to pass the .asf file to Avisynth and let DirectShowSource do the playback if you want to encode.

It's not on App Store. It's an ad hoc distribution. Search for 'i-KeyHoleTV_OS3' on Google and you should be able to find it.

Thanks so much for this. I have used Sopcast for ages to watch football, but did not know there were any japanese channels broadcasting on there.

btw - You can open the video in VLC to correct the aspect ratio.
Also, you can use a program called Cool-Recorder 1.3 or HiDownload to record the streams.

Be diffrient from TVants, the Sopcast channels are all from OSAKA.

每日放送(TBS)sop://221.130.198.26:3920/1709
関西テレビ(富士テレビ) sop://221.130.198.26:3920/1707
読売テレビ(日本テレビ)sop://221.130.198.26:3920/1714
朝日放送(朝日テレビ)sop://221.130.198.26:3920/1708
WOWOW sop://221.130.198.26:3920/1715
緯來日本台(a taiwan channel) sop://221.130.198.26:3920/4639

You can paste these address to the Sopcast's address column.
But the screen should be 16:9 not that you seen 4:3.
If you want to corrent them,I suggest to download Sopfilter.
After installed the sopfilter, you can use another video player, paste those sop address dirrectly, then change to 16:9

sopcast 3.03 ,the old version ,be capable to record these channel
sopcast 3.24 ,the newest version,be capable to view the H264 channel
sopfilter 3.0.3 ,be able to use other video playing software directly view the channel (screen change to 16:9 manually)

http://www.sopcast.com/download

If you use the Yahoo TV guide, you should choose “大阪” to get the correct information.

In China ,to set or buy the satellite TV to get outside information is illegal and will be punnished to the law.
Thanks for this.

Unfortunately, it isn't for mac so I can't reap the benefits while away from home. Oh well, i'll keep on using Freshverse.

Thanks for the urls kakudy!

I've been messing around with TVants (changing channels was a pain and speed of the less popular channels) and keyholeTV ( and find sopcast with the filter to be the most versatile. I use the sopfilter with KMplayer so I can have a channel list with the URLs and the ability to record. Pretty good quality and performance too.

@ladymercury
TVants works pretty well under crossover/WINE for me, you'll need to use VLC to connect

hi kakudy, are there any chances of being able to get NihonTV in Tokyo instead of NihonTV in Osaka? Do you know the URL?

the Osaka channel does not carry the programs that i want to see which are in NihonTV Tokyo

I find a very simple to use software which can record the sopcast or tvants channel easily.
It could automatically save file as *.wmv
which will not have the problem that asf file do not have a index.

The name of TVants' channel is always not correct.
KeyholeTV can help to find out the correct TVants channel name.

Thanks for those Sopcast links, kakudy (though 1708 and 1709 aren't working for me.) All the Japanese channels on TVAnts are down and if it wasn't for the Sopcast channels I'd be stuck with Keyhole TV.

The Japanese channels are back at TVAnts if anyone uses that.

I'm wondering am I the only one who has soundless TBS (on TVants)?!

And is there any other possibility to watch TBS - I even can't seem to find it on Keyhole (well, I might be just stupidly blind)?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hey guys!
Just wanted to inform you guys that, I believe according to the KeyholeTV website, KeyholeTV will terminate its services on December 13, 8:00 AM Japan time.

"12/1/2009 JST KeyHole system and KeyHole Home page will stop at 12/13 8:00 (AM) - 12:00 (PM) (JST)."

So those of you (like me) who rely on Keyhole may need to find another source.

Do they mean, like, permanently? Or down for repairs? If it's the former that's terrible--Keyhole isn't great but it's better than nothing.

Looks like it's just from 8am to 12pm JST for an inspection.

Here's a babelfish translation copy and paste:
2009 December 1st (JST) December 13th comes 8 o'clock in the morning (JST) from to 12 o'clock in the afternoon, for power source inspection of the office, perusal of the KeyHole system and the home page becomes impossible.

There is word going around on Japanese blog sites that they may possibly (although this is complete speculation) create compatibility with iTouch/iPhone. As of now there is only a jailbroked version of such software that works with it. There are however a lot of people hoping they create an official version even though a lot of Japanese smart phones have HDTV built in to them already. So heres hoping! :D

Old Lady no Brain here.
I am trying to get this programme. Have installed but I get a window which states in red

'Login timed out. check your Network.'

this does not mean anything to me.
what should I do please??

The idea of watching Kimura and SMAP live in real time is too enticing for words.

Peggy make sure you are using the latest version (3.13) from here:
http://www.keyholetv.jp/Viewer/Windows/

Ather things that could be causing this off the top of my head:

1. Your firewall is blocking its access to the internet
2. The Keyhole TV servers are down

Some really good shows, but the draw backs are English only programs are on here and not all the programs are shown. It is best to look up what you want and tune in at that time.

Also these apps are really helpful: http://jibtv.com/info/tools.html

Guys...what should I do... I'm planning to watch TVXQ's concert re-run on TBSChannel but my TV only has the regular TBS.

I tried using KeyHoleTV and JLC's internet TV but both don't have TBSChannel I'm looking for. I'm actually completely clueless about all this, I'm not even sure what's the difference between TBSChannel and regular TBS...

Any help and comment would be much appreciated!!

TBSChannel is not the same as regular TBS. To watch it you must upgrade your cable or find someone who is streaming that channel.

For more information, see this page: http://www.tbs.co.jp/tbs-ch/faq/

In KeyHole TV? Most of the time the password is the channel´s name. for example: NHK is a channel that need password and it´s password is NHK !!! XD

Thanks !

Does anyone know what the deal is with www.ntktv.com ?

It appears to be On Demand only (not live) and I can't find anything about subscription costs on their website. Surely it is not free.

NTKTV is the replacement for firephoenix. The interface is java similar to jptv24. Similar to jptv24, it offers NHK教育for free, but it doesn't have live tv, only has recorded content from the past hour or later, and updates with new recording about every hour, just like firephoenix.

Since NTKTV is new, ordering is not yet ready. It will be a paid subscription with multiple channel packages.

Good news for all of us:

Fuji, TBS, NTV etc. are available in widescreen HD on TVants. It's not yet 1080 quality, but definitely comparable to 720p

Sadly the channels previously mentioned are currently down. I hope they come back online as they were indeed the best quality I've seen for streamed TV.

It's so much more superior to KeyHoleTV it's nearly impossible to compare.

After seeing YTV, KTV, and MBS (which are some TV stations available in Osaka) made me so happy. I truly hope to see them soon. Who knew that TV would make me become so emotional. I used to live close by near YTV Station.

I'd love to see my Hanshin Tigers play too this year!

Not being able to find work in Japan until the economic situation improves to something more sustainable, it will be a while until I can see these shows on my TV in Osaka again. But, I know it's hardly the end of those days. It helps me stay in the know of what's popular in society especially when I can watch shows on Osaka or Kansai area.

:D

koushounin, is the quality of NTKTV good enough for you?

If so, you may be interested to know that the following channels will be available on their paid service:

大阪地上波

1 NHK総合
2 NHK教育
3 MBS毎日放送
4 ABC朝日放送
5 関西テレビ
6 読売テレビ
7 大阪テレビ

Well, at least according to http://www.ntktv.com
Unfortunately, subscription is not available yet so for the moment you are stuck with Tokyo channels.

Anyone know the estimate for how much NTKTV will cost? How much did Firephoenix cost?

It wasn't that bad actually (the quality of NHK-E). Could be a bit better but under the circumstances its a fair analog reception (hoping for High-Vision to be made available).

I will have to check the price of the service and see the payment options first.
If it is worth it I will set up my TV to display my PC so that I can watch the Tigers play!

UPDATE: We lost 3-2 to the Yokohama Bay Stars. The 3rd game in a 3-Game series. No one could pull it into extra innings and win it like yesterday's game. :-(

What's with that "Club Tomabechi" channel in KeyHole? it's always the same guy sitting in the same spot and babbling weird **** lol. I mean seriously does he sleep, eat or move around? It'd be more surprising if it's a live streaming channel
