Somewhere to learn Japanese

Post by PhilsterT » Jun 16th, '08, 21:22

I was wondering if there were any good Japanese forums on the internet for large-group discussion on Japan and cultural/language inquiries. Anyone know of any?

It's been awhile since I've visted, but JDorama.com used to have a pretty ppl actively helping out in the language forum.

japanesepod101.com is very nice. You can get a membership, but I just do the free trial over and over again. haha They have a lesson sheet and an audio lesson to go with the lesson sheet. Very nice. :D It's supposed to give you a welcome to Japanese and to give you an edge in the classroom. I'm using it until I can study in college.

I tried Rosetta Stone..
It's a pretty damn expensive (and confusing) program, but it's supposedly the best way to learn a language lol

As someone who teaches Japanese, I've found these pretty useful, though they're a lot more useful if you have a basic knowledge of the language...

I would recommend "Japanese for Busy People" as a very basic, easy to understand, introductory book for learning Japanese.
