Anime & games into a live action/movie

Post by tasukile » Nov 19th, '10, 00:56

First of all if there's any mistake please ignore it. If you have any title you want to share, then do. Some release dates are for the theater in Japan not the international release or the DVD one. Enjoy! ^..^

Hollywood has been hungrily adapting popular Japanese manga and anime into movies. So Oricon went out and surveyed 900 men and women: “Which manga they would Most Like to see being adapted into a live-action movie.”

1. Slam Dunk
2. One Piece
3. Kimi ni Todoke
4. Bokura ga Ita
5. MONSTER
6. Gintama
7. Ouran High School Host Club
8. Tenshi Nanka Janai
9. Fullmetal Alchemist
10. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure

wow I would LOVE to see junni kokki T.T amazing choice!
seirei no moribito is a very good choice. In the other hand Hikaru no Go would really be hard to make since there is not alot of action. it's tricky beause it gonna be easy and hard to make at the same time.

Hikaru No Go is really suited for a drama rather than a movie

Monster would be a good storyline for a drama.

@«minah»

I made sure that there is no topic exactly like this. I made it myself.. gathered and arranged the information. The other topic you might refer to was the "RECOMMEND AN ANIME/MANGA FOR A LIVE DRAMA"
Mine is totally different because it gives information rather than asking for recommendation. So please next make sure before writing such comment ^.^'

I wasn't in any way trying to have any negativity in my comment, I'm just not sure how the admins/mods would feel about a thread that's similar to another, that's all. Sorry if you took it the wrong way, but whatever

I would love to vote to One Piece and Gintama but Live action will be bad since the jokes in both show should be for manga/anime only :P although I wanna see Katsura for real

voted for something else ..I wanna see Kare Kano in live action

I second monster and karekano made as live action series. Those will be great. Oh btw, Tokikake was originally a live action movie made in 2002. It later had a spinoff "sequel" as an animation movie in 2006 which is probably what you were referring to in your post. Regardless, I think the 2010 live action movie lived up to my expectations.

Skip Beat is REALLY REALLY REALLY awesome! But the drama, I am not so sure... They will dubb the two guys from Suju right? since it is a TW-drama and all... And DongHae as Ren????!!!! How is he even going to pull that off?! Jerry Yan would be A MUCH MUCH MUCH better choice... And Siwon as Sho? Does that mean Siwon will dye his hair blond?

And Ariel Lin as Kyoto, baaah!!

I cannot see how this drama will turn out well... mataku....

and puleeease Hollywood, stay away from ruining the anime when adapting to live action. Keanu Reeves as Spike?! Over my dead body.... Wasnt it enough that they ruined Dragon Ball Z?!

Please let the cast in Fruits basket be Japanese.

I think genres and material such as Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club, if remade into live-action movies, should remain within the Japanese entertainment industry. This type of humour wouldn't translate well to a western audience, nor would they be able to do it as well as the Japanese.

I haven't read much manga or seen many anime series but of what I've seen, I think Full Metal Alchemist and Neon Genesis Evangelion would be awesome as movies, if the focus is on the story rather than all out action. Evangelion would get my vote out of the two, have yet to see a series more deep and complex as this.

I know Kimi ni Todoke has already been made into a movie, but I would love to see it as a series.. Really think it could work.

Wouldn't mind seeing Suzumiya Haruhi as a live action, simply because it'll be interesting :)

And wouldn't want to see anything live action made by anyone other than the Japanese :S

I want to see the Touhou story made into a CG movie. Unless you own all the games you miss valuable info pertaining to events and characters. Tbh it got hard to follow for a bit. Also I want to see my fav Izayoi Sakuya go with some dagger action.

Anime you wish they made into J Drama

Post by SithSylar » Jan 18th, '11, 05:24

Bakuman
It's not easy to become and live as a mangaka, as Mashiro Moritaka knows from his late uncle. At 9th grade, while trying to keep up with reality, school and then a normal job, he left his notebook with a sketch of Azuki Miho, a girl he likes. Takagi Akito, a first-rate student found it and tries to convince Mashiro to draw a manga with his story. Mashiro doesn't like the idea and declines. Takagi, however, sticks to his dream and found out that Azuki wants to be a voice actress and has already gotten a good reply from a production company. Takagi then brought Mashiro to her house and told her his dream... Mashiro then tells her that he will write a manga with Takagi and will ask Azuki to voice their anime. Out of confusion, Mashiro asks her if their dreams become reality, will she marry him? She says yes, only if their dreams become true, and not otherwise!! Now, the lives of wannabe mangakas begin!!! Nominated for the 3rd Manga Taisho Award (2010)..
This is one anime i am really enjoying i just imagine it been turned in a J Drama and the 2 people go to Shonen Jump arghhh. Would be really awesome.

Hourou Musuko
The story depicts a young boy named Shuuichi Nitori who wants to be a girl, and his friend Yoshino Takatsuki, a girl who wants to be a boy. The series deals with issues such as transsexuality, gender identity, and the beginning of puberty.
I really like how this anime is serious and i really think it could easily translate into j drama :D What does everyone else think...

I would love to see "ToraDora" toe be made as a dorama.

a) It's a nice story, I simply like it :p

b) It's a romantic school comedy, many people like this scenario.

c) It's completed in 25 anime episodes, so it's about 500min long, which would make something between 11 or 12 episodes a a dorama. Perfect.

d) It's not hard to convert the manga/anime into a real life dorama. There is no real "over the top" action, or generally very unrealistic scenes. So, no need to rewrite them, edit them out or s.th. like that.

e) I guess It would be quite cheap (location wise), because most of the anime/manga takes place at school or at home.

f) Shida Mirai would be the perfect person, to play one of the main roles: The "palm top tiger" Taiga Aisaka. She has nearly exactly the same high as Taiga (1,45m) and, after seeing Hammer Session, she could really pull off Taigas behaviour.

I think it would be awesome. :)

Yakitate Ja-pan and Slam Dunk please! I wonder who will play the boys in Slam Dunk, especially Rukawa and Sakuragi! Oh, and of course, Gori! Will he be African American (as he is depicted in the anime hahaha)?

Has anyone seen the Detective Conan live action drama? It has 12 episodes, and the actor who played Mori was hilarious!

I've seen Beck: Live action and I can say it turned out great:)

Itazura na Kiss has a jdrama live-action http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Itazura_na_Kiss
It was the first version to air (in 1996). The Taiwanese (2005/2007) and Korean (2010) versions came a lot later and that's why are so much more popular that only few people know about the original live-action. Also I am afraid that the huge success of latter versions makes it pointless to re-make the original version. Even though I do agree that it would be nice to have a new jdrama version (I mean: HEY! They even re-made GTO which is much "younger" than Itazura na Kiss)

Oh, thanks for letting me know about Itazura na Kiss. I wasn't into jdramas during the 90's. :P
Yes, it would be always hard to surpass the original. Unless if they'll make the plot more interesting, cast wise and could portray the role well.
