[HowTo] Change Font Settings in VobSub for Asian Fonts

Post by mj30chan » Sep 24th, '05, 05:31

subject: how to change chinese font

I was wondering if anyone knows how to change the font used for the chinese subtitles? I try to change the font thru direct vobsub or thru windows media player, but it keeps using the same font. Is there anyway to do this? I tried to edit the subtitles, but only the English subtitles appeared.

thanx :D

To display the chinese subtitle, right click DirectVobSub. Choose DirectVobSub (auto-loading version) Another window will appear, in the main tab you can change the font in "Text settings" section.

Hope this helps =)

thanx for replying, but i already tried that. I mean whichever font I choose for "chinese" subtitles, it still displays the same font.

After click the font button in the Text settings section, another window will appear---called "Style editor-Default."

Click again the button in the "Font" section. Choose N Simsun or MingLiu in the "Font" section. Try choose N Simsun or MingLiu or any fonts that are familiar with Chinese characters.

Below "sample" section is "Script", choose CHINESE_BIG5

from what i know there are some chinese shows that include their own subtitles even on their broadcast. i think what you want to change are the embedded ones in the video itself which couldnt be changed. the ones that are posted above are only applicable for subs which are not part of the video itself. try to do this on different shows. what i mean by shows is that you watch different titles not episodes 1-100 of any show. just watch episode 1 of one title and episode 1 of another title. if it works on other titles then the show youre saying has embedded subs which cannot be changed

no, the chinese subs are soft subs b/c I can turn them off. But when I try to use Chinese fonts that are more like the Chinese fonts in regular Chinese shows it doesn't work. Switching btwn regular Chinese fonts like MingLiu or Simsun works. Just wondering if it's impossible w/ other fonts beside those.
