*** TORRENT FILE DELIVERY SERVICE ***

Motivation:
It seems for some reason some users cannot access our fileserver which hosts the torrent files and thus cannot start their downloads. The idea is to establish a temporarily delivery service for such users so they can download some torrents. Users who cannot access the fileserver (when clicking on "DL") should post here what torrent files they need so others can send them those files (e.g. via email) to start their actuall download, mkay?

How it works:
1. post what torrent file(s) you need (post your email address if you haven't set in in your profile)
2. wait patiently until somebody sends you the file(s)
3. post again or edit your request that you've received the files so that nobody sends you again
4. open the torrent files with your BT client and download happily.

I hope this is a useful workaround.

UPDATE (July 2005):
The torrent files are now served by the tracker itself. So, if you still have trouble downloading the torrent files the chances that you can download the torrent are very small.

I have no idea why they cannot access the server. I just know that some users reported problems on the forum and through PM. It is not a DNS problem but it seems to be a routing related problem. It must be an error with their ISP and nothing we can actually fix.

I hope it actually concerns only a handful of ppl.

I'm having same problem....today can't access at all when I click DL button. I was able to just last night athough it takes a while to start.

I really pulling my hair out thru" frustration!! I am going to throw stones

It's interesting how this thread was set up 10 days ago, but all the requests have come in the last hour and a half. I tried downloading those torrents and they didn't work for me as well, so sorry I can't help you out there. I'm just curious to see who can download since it seems like it's just a temporary problem that influences everybody, not just a handful. So I don't think anybody should start panicking yet... things will smooth over in time...

Again, I'm only speaking from an observational standpoint. ^^;;;

Description : DNS Host name resolution failed. (momusu.lunarpages.com)

I was able to download a torrent 20 hours ago. I am no longer able to now. And I do believe it's a DNS problem now. It seems momusu.lunarpages.com is no longer resolving--as if it's not registered in the root DNS servers.

Moerkj, are you able to resolve the IP # for momusu.lunarpages.com?

Whoever can still reach momusu.lunarpages.com, can you please post the IP number? We all need the IP number so we can add it to the HOST file again.

ppl can only "download" the torrent files if they are still in their browser cache.

I had a problem downloading about an hour ago, some error about momosu could not be found and then another time about how operation timed out when connecting to momosu's page. I didn't think to look in this thread, and automatically assumed the problem was on my end. I thought since downloading worked find yesterday, I just reverted to yesterday's system restore point. After I did that, I thought my maybe my browser was messed up ( since one of the problems seemed to be operation timing out, even though I'm not sure what that means), so I installed the latest version of Firefox(v.1.0.1) to be sure. I was using an old version of Firefox I think (v.1.0), although I'm not sure if that makes any difference or not. Anyways, now there seems to be no problems downloading stuff. I'm not really a computer savvy guy, so maybe the problem worked out naturally with time, or maybe something I did that I described above fixed the problem. You techno-philes who know alot more about computers can laugh at this post if it reeks of a computer newbie, but I figured since I had the problem and now I don't, maybe it'll work for or help someone else too.

Edit: Oh okay. So I found out it was momosu's server and now it's working fine. So now I feel like an idiot for posting such computer-newbie reeking post.

Go to http://proxy.guardster.com/ and enter the url on the left. That should solve your problem unless the torrent has been deleted from the server.

Erm... this service is obsolete. We only mailed the torrent files to ppl who couln't access our server which hosted them. We don't mail any dramas. You have to download them yourself... using the torrent files (with a bittorrent client).

Nobody "controls" the dload or upload rate. A slow dload rate could be caused by several different things.

One, if you access the internet through a router and you haven't forwarded the port properly, all the connections will be rejected by the router. http://p2p.weblogsinc.com/2005/04/24/ho ... downloads/ is one site that explains how to set up port forwarding properly. You can also just google "port forwarding" and whatever bt client you use. Sometimes, if you are behind a network, such as office or university network, there is no way to accept incoming connections.

Two, if it is an old torrent, there could simply not be enough users or only users with slow internet connection. So they won't be able to send the pieces quickly. There's not much you can do about this.

If you really have trouble with bt/don't want to wait for it, try using clubbox. Also, some files have direct download links if you search around for them.
