[Discussion] Maou (Ohno Satoshi & Ikuta Toma)

BUT... I think maybe Arashi will sing the drama theme....
same like every Arashi member drama (HYD + nino&sho drama)...
Arashi singing emo theme song not a bad thing but I do prefer Toma involvement. Of course not a happy bubbly Arashi like single for this drama, that's for sure.

OZARASHI@vox just posted a whole compilation of infos and translation on Maou.
the link <-- click!
reading the translation of Maou's official website was really damaging to my poor soul. now i can't wait to see the drama RIGHT AWAY. One sentence that caught my attention was "I would like to depict a story of characters who struggle with the destiny diligently and in detail while leveraging on the strength of the original (Korean version)." I am glad the producer is aiming for the same dark brilliance of Mawang.
From Tokyograph (original source: Sponichi): Some Maou Casts Details
A few more cast members have been formally announced for the TBS drama series "Maou." The show, remade from a 2007 Korean series, was revealed earlier this month, starring Satoshi Ohno as a revenge-seeking lawyer and Toma Ikuta as a detective.
Hitori Gekidan will be playing an elite company president who is also Ikuta's older brother. Koji Ishizaka has been cast as their father, while Yuji Miyake plays Ikuta's boss.
It has also been mentioned that tarot cards will play a key role in the series. Gekidan commented that he has been studying tarot for some time. (mmm... but his character were not involved in deciphering the tarot cards )

Don't worry , I believe they'll use the tarot card correctly. They've been announcing to the press and such that the tarot cards are crucial to the plot and disregarding the meanings would make them look stupid :3. I hope the producer/team keep their promise to deliver a clever and dramatic plot close to the original. (Mawang was AWESOME)GoddessCarlie wrote:I hope tarot cards will be involved and that they use them correctly, not just "oh no! It's the death card!!"
I think they might drop the psychometry and just focus on the cards instead. There's still no official announcement on the Psychic girl role.
I haven't actually sseen Ohno Satoshi, or maybe I have but I haven't actually taken notice of him, but I've seen ikuta toma, and I was kind of hoping he got the anti-hero part. I mean, I saw his acting in that first episode of HYD2, and he was diabolical... I kinda thought they would give the lawyer part to Toma since he looked a little more polished than the other one, making the duality of the character more effective. But heck, I believe Toma-kun will kick ass in the role, so I'm not that disappointed... I saw the Korean version (haven't gotten around to finishing it, though...), and I hope they would be able to reproduce or even surpass the dark feel of the drama... Toma-kun, ganbatte ne!
OZARASHI@vox have wonderfully translated the blog entries by Maou's assistent producer as well as other information from the official site.
I'm glad the team are fans of Mawang as well. Kobayashi Ryoko is confirmed as the heroin. At first I thought she was too young for the role but her looks fits perfectly to Ohno *praying for chemistry and sparks*. and I like her more now I know she's a fan of the original. SO EXCITING!

Ohno had said byself, that he doesn't like acting, but concerts are not same

I am excited too!
And as for Ohno fitting the role, I wouldn't count him out just yet. He's a very accomplished stage actor (as well as Toma) and if the CM counts for anything he looks pretty frightening.
I have no doubt that most of the time this series will be compared to the original, so I hope this series will come into its own. I'll definitely be cheering this series on
I'm really looking forward to TFP2 as well!!

Also, the date that the Maou cast will be on Tokyo Friend Park II was changed to June 30th, although the first announcement said the 23rd

i didn't even feel excited while watching code blue cms ....anyway if code blue was the main drama then i guess I know why ...take a look at the leading role xD I don't like him myself really
EDIT::

Stormy fansubs will be subbing the drama with hardsubs only

How you beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?
Hahaha oh my god. Maou... amazing. It really lived up to what I was expecting it to be.
Toma, surprisngly good, felt he slightly overacted but wow, far cry from whath I've seen in all his other roles.
Ohno, scary. But I love it. He really looks like a devil disguised as an angel.

uwaaahhh
its like Mawang but in Japanese. absolutely love Toma in this. The girl looks wonderful. Ohno.. ohno.. he needs to loosen up a bit imo.
The opening "truth" montage was REALLY COOL. The song is great!
Nino should be acting again. I want Nino to act again. Somebody needs to make that boy act again *pulls hair*
There's a rerun of Maou tomorrow at 2.30pm Japan time in case anybody misses the live just now.

I've got links to another streaming site (Veoh) If you want I can PM them you. Since Maou is broad casted on TBS and they are really sensitive when it comes to copyright I won't put the Veoh users' account at risk by even posting the links here. (user has already had his/her account shut down 3 times already)
So, if anyone wants the Veoh links, PM me.
Oh, and that's of course if you can use Veoh. I know they've blocked a lot of countries from using their site.

I loved the first episode. The director did a great job of putting the scenes together. My favorite part was when the female lead was saying how Ohno's character has no heart and then it flashes over to Ohno crying on the pavement. Great scene and very well done.
Another scene that was great was the scene towards the end when Toma reenacted the scene of the stabbing and he relives the accident years ago and you can clearly see Toma struggle with it but then you see Ohno just stand there a stare like he knows everything that is going on in Toma's mind. Ohno's face was so intense at that moment that it was scary.
The end of the episode was great because you saw Ohno really calm and smooth and then he walks out of the room and that SMIRK totally killed me. I fear the smirk.
I worried a lot about this remake because the korean version was soooo well done but they were all laid to rest when I saw the first episode. Ohno really surprised me with his acting. I never knew he could be so strong since all I ever saw was his goofy side on tv shows but he really proved people who doubted him wrong.
I actually like that they aren't following tooo closely to the korean version because if they did there would not be any reason to even watch the japanese version. On the red room, the red room to me in the show symbolizes his hatred for Toma and I think that room will play an important part later on. I actually like that Ohno's character is close to some of the victims because it makes it more powerful in the performance that someone could be so cold and calculating even when they are close to them.
You know what they say about fearing those who are closer to you than a stranger. The thrill is never knowing.
Toma and Ohno did an awesome job and I can't say enough about the director and his style.
Sorry about the long rant, just enjoyed the drama a lot. smile.gif

First time posting... what an awesome episode!! Didn't understand most of it, but the acting was amazing, especially Ohno.
Who would have thought he could play someone so bent on evil and destruction? Seriously, the menace was rolling off him in droves!
I had a hard time at first, believing that Toma is a detective, because I keep remembering him in Hana Kimi. : I think he'll grow on me, though. I like Ryoko Kobayashi. but I'm wondering about her role in the drama, other than her "talent." I think she might be the crux of a love triangle later in the series, I'm guessing.
Anyway, I can't wait for it to be uploaded somewhere and someone subs it. *.* This series looks like it's going to be /really/ good.
P.S. the shower scene was entirely /too/ short

This is what I got from watching the episode. Is the raw up yet so I can rewatch it? I'll check the torrents xD
You can tell his hatred for Toma just by the way he stalks him, sets up his murders, and uses it to directly challenge and torture him through his work.
The red room is not just that, its a film processing room. The red light is so that the film and photographs, drying, will not be destroyed by the bright light. Its an alternative. He processes his own photos. It makes sense considering he IS stalking Toma and the people around him and if he was to go to a film process place they would probably call the cops on him. So that's why its red, not really to symbolize anything.red room to me in the show symbolizes his hatred for Toma and I think that room will play an important part later on

EDIT: I read the script, yeay! It means " 過去の罪への償い " Kako no Tsumi he no tsugunai - " Atonement for (your) past crimes "but what i didnt really understand was the tarot part, the judgement card means "a past crime"??

The reason why I brought up the red room was because if you watch the original the room doesn't play an important part there but in this version I think it does. I know the red light is for processing of films but remember red is also the color of blood and hatred. this version uses it more than the original that is why I brought it up The red room was mentioned before in another thread so I was just responding to that.

I also think the red room is going to be really important.
In a photographic dark room, the best colour light to use is actually yellow, not red. And, as long as you're not physically processing anything at the time, it's totally fine to have the lights on. So there's obviously a major reason they chose red.
Although it already works, because that red room kind of like the center of his evil. It hides all the evidence that he's been stalking Toma, and it's where he contemplates all his evil deeds. Heh heh.
Yeh, I think maybe the main reason I think Toma is over-acting a bit, is that I'm used to seeing him playing the fool, and I'm not used to this character yet.
Anyway, as I've already said loads, this was a great first episode! And I think it's just going to get way better!!

Ah, I did not know that. I just knew what I was exposed to by my friends who were taking photography in HS and let me chill in the print rooms and it was all red and stufftsumabukis wrote:In a photographic dark room, the best colour light to use is actually yellow, not red. LOL, I just had a mental image of Ohno going, TO THE BAT CAVE and pulling on one of his law books to get inside his secret red room. Yes, I am weird.Although it already works, because that red room kind of like the center of his evil. Yeah, but I think he's getting too emotional, then again, maybe that's how brash his character is?Yeh, I think maybe the main reason I think Toma is over-acting a bit, is that I'm used to seeing him playing the fool, and I'm not used to this character yet.
