Initially, i had a bad feeling when I watched SP: Ep 2.
Chiaki leaves Nodame for a 3 months concert ... and the entry of Son Rui. seeing Nodame's sad expression at One Night Kiss bar[?] i wonder if our favourite couple will be alright or not. i was worried whether they will progess or not. of course, it was neat that Chiaki gave her his apartment key
i was relieved when Chiaki thinks of her in a few scenes; especially in the jewellery store? He remembers Nodame's words about how she wants a ring. And he bought a necklace instead.
I also feel for Nodame's struggle in the music academy and her need to get used to Paris (food, language, where the culture is different from her own) ... i thought that was well done. her struggle and her finding a reason to play the piano. when she was wronged by Chiaki, I'm glad she ran after him. Nodame has strong determination ^_^ it was filled with emotion when she jumped on Chiaki at the pavement and broke down, "I am serious! Just when i think i get closer to you ... you moved away ... your music too." something like that. and the disbelieving Chiaki went, "Why am I the one changing my attitude?" lol.
I really enjoy this drama. Tho' i wish they would show Chiaki giving her the necklace at the Garden.
lichter002 wrote:Chiaki looks eerily like an uncle of mine.
Does your Aunt look like Nodame?
I was going to say "Ha! I wish!" but that would have been creepy.
Juri-chan's face isn't actually that unique or different, but I guess that's what makes how we adore her so much so spectacular. Talent + personality + looks is a tough combination to beat.
One of the best drama, I wish there was more though...I just cant get enough of Nodame and Chiaki ... I have watched the drama, the anime and also read the manga
Just showing that she was wearing the charm was enough... The rest was left to the imagination of the viewer.
I'm sure everyone who saw the charm had a big smile and said, "Ah, he DID give it to her..."
Considering how Chiaki seems so awkward in being affectionate to Nodame-chan, I'm sure he was glad the scene was played out exactly as it was (with some parts not being shown).

I think it was played out perfectly: subtle, yet full of meaning.
I absolutely adored the "transition period" of Tamaki's behavior towards Nodame. I think it's one of those things that also got lots of viewers hooked. Just like that hug in the last episode of the series, too!
I think it's cute that he realised all these thru Jean and Yuko.
It;s one of those things that let the viewers think, "He did that! He actually did that!"
Only because Chiaki has "pushed" Nodame away since the beginning of the series.

Everyone seems to love those love-hate relationships (but not the Last Friends type ) and the romantic tension that exists from them...
A lot of times you know how it's gonna end up, yet you watch because you want to see how it happens... "It's not the final destination, but the journey that makes it exciting..."
I hope this manga-talk is appropriate and not off-topic.
Too bad that Ravel's Piano Concerto is taken already. Nodame is going to perform Chopin's Piano Concerto no. 1 in London with Milch conducting.
I have a hunch that there's going to be another live-action adaption (likely another SP) of the remaining lessons of the manga, considering the success of both SP and previous live-action, and the rumour that Ninomiya will complete this manga less than a year.
Is that why, Juri-chan is growing her hair back to Nodame's? let's just hope so... I just have to see Nodame performing piano concerto!
I giggled so much when she started squirming and saying "hazukashi" in Kagayaku Onna. She says it THE EXACT SAME WAY. Alex Shearer is one lucky ass dude.

What about that family she lived with in Cornwall?
Aww, she's so adorable when she's embarassed! What episode was this? I may need to rewatch Nodame Cantabile....
Yeah Alex Shearer sure is one lucky dude, lol! I always wondered if that family in Cornwall bought the Nodame Cantabile DVDs or saw the show online after Juri left their farm... It was heartwarming to see them bonding with Juri during the 4 short days. That little girl kept asking Juri when she was coming back, like Juri was her big sis. lol, sweet.

Episode 5... Where the story begins to shift towards Nodame's konkuru...

I was (supposedly) contacted by the father (Chris Jones) on my blog a while back when I posted some comments about Kagayaku Onna...I replied, but I never heard from him again...
lol if you're up for it no biggie if you're not up to it though. I would hope it would be popular enough that multitudes of people would want to rip and upload it
I'm sure it'll show up on Veoh and/or DailyMotion eventually... It happened for the original box set.
Here's a pic of the SP box set contents and the Europe disc (upper left):
Is that from Yesasia?!
I want to order SO bad!
If not, can you give me the link? How much did it cost too?

What brand DVD player is it? You might be able to hack it from the remote.
Regardless, you can always watch it on your PC.

I don't think you have a choice on delivery: if it's heading out of Japan, it has to be International....

Really, the father found your blog and contacted you? What did he say? Maybe he wanted to invite Juri back to Cornwall for her next vacation ...(lol, who wouldn't? She was such a delightful guest, game for anything. ) He was cute and fatherly to Juri.

He said he was the dad of the family that Juri-chan lived with in Cornwall... He was searching the 'net for more info about Juri-chan and found my blog... He was asking if I had more info about her and her movies/dramas.
I replied that I had lots of info and that I'd help him out in any way I could... But I never heard back from him.
It might've been someone at J-Dorama playing a practical joke on me....

If he did, I'm sure he had her contact information, so there's no reason why he'd get in touch with me...

That's a possibility...lol. But this feels true to me. It's not hard to believe that he'd look up for Juri info on the net, out of curiosity. I know I'd do the same. Juri most likely left a lasting impression on his family.

Aw. Don't be too let down. Look on the bright side. He probably chose to contact you among all the Juri sites/blogs because your genuine fondness for Juri (and knowledge on all things Juri-related) showed and he was impressed.

I suppose.
It would've been nice if we had gotten into a long conversation... Like his impression of Juri-chan and how he managed to have her as a house guest...
When I was studying in Japan, a supermarket near my apartment had a similar sale during Sunday afternoons/early evenings. That scene made me remember all those times scrambling to get as much unagi as my wallet could afford. I enjoy seeing Juri-chan go to places I've been or do things in her shows that I've also done.
xsilentangel wrote:^ Thanks for everything!
I got the drama today.. it came 2 days after I ordered!
It's so pretty I don't want to open it haha..
Excellent.
As you probably know, there aren't any English subs... But that didn't faze me.
If you watch carefully, you'll see that there are a number of scenes that are slightly different/added on the DVD compared to the broadcast version that's posted here at D-Addicts......

The one I can think of at the moment is near the beginning of SP Lesson 1: In the broadcast version, when the two arrive in Paris, the scene immediately switches to the inside of the restaurant... In the DVD, it shows Nodame and Chiaki walking to the restaurant, with Nodame singing and semi-dancing as they approach the front door.

I love the
kissing
scene at the end so much... I will surely watch that over and over!
