I liked the movie. Is the series better or not?

I haven't seen the movie, but I doubt it'll unmatch the series. If it does, that means the movie must of been a heck of a movie.

I havent really watch the serie seriously. Basically
I just skip through thing, but I heard many people said
the serie is even better than the movie. So I suggested
if you like the movie, you should watch the serie too.

And for those who havent watch the movie. I can confirm
that it is good :)

Anyway, I think the answer to if the serie is better than
the movie or not. It is depend on people opinion. As for
me, I like the movie more, I think it is beause I prefer
Yamada Takayuki eventhought, he might be too good
looking for densha.

Noooo, im pretty sure that was a clever CG effect, the special was pretty high budget.

If you liked the movie, then the series should blow you away. My gf who is from tokyo saw both the movie and the tv series and was the one who introduced me to the show, i never heard of the whole phenomenon until a month ago, and her review was that she loved the series but thought the movie was weak in comparison, for many reasons. And i've read many comparitive reviews of the movie and tv series that agree w that assessment for mostly the same reasons.

I watched it last night, and quite liked it. It's probably the best Jdrama I've seen this year (up there with Jyoou no Kyoushitsu specials) - though I think I'm probably a big Densha fan so I've been anticipating it for ages.

I also loved the fact that they got most of the original cast back - even if it were for just one scene; the only person I noticed who wasn't in there was Saori's brother. I also thought at the start where Densha says he isn't as handsome as the Densha in the movie was quite funny since that's what everyone seems to mention. I don't think there will be any more specials, I think it just ended how it did to leave things open. Densha's friends should get their own show :P

I thought there would be a lot more posts here by now though.

well
for me I prefer the movie because it's more similar to what really happened on 2ch
but I like how funny the drama is
and how painful it is

I really want to know he is still dating hermes or not

Densha and Hermes should have got together at the end of the episode, not in the middle. I understand that the show's producers had a bit of a problem in that the audience knew what the ending was going to be. So they shifted the focus away from the relationship to Densha's 'graduation' from the forum. As much as I love the forum characters, Densha and Hermes' relationship is what the story is about. It doesn't matter that the audience already knows what the ending is. What does matter is that you give the audience a great version of that ending.

.
Sorry this is such a late reply on this statement, but NO, the drama was equally if not more so about the friendship between Densha and the anonymous net chatters as it was between Densha and Hermes, and those of us addicted to the internet chat know, sometimes your online friends seem a hell of a lot more REAL than 'real' people out on the street.

No I think it was fitting that Densha got the appropriate sendoff/goodbyes with the internet chatters for a good portion of ep 11 and to downplay that in your mind is just wrong.

LOVE STATUE

Post by kayone » Sep 28th, '06, 17:25

Ok for those of you who think the LOVE statue in Shinjuku is something original to Tokyo, you are mistaken, its actually based on the famous Love design created by Robert Indiana in 1964

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Indiana

ndiana's best known image is the word "LOVE" in a square with a tilted "O". This image, first created for a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in 1964, was included on an 8 cent United States Postal Service postage stamp in 1973, the first of their regular series of "love stamps." Sculpture versions are on display at: Sixth Avenue in New York City; the Pratt Institute campus in Brooklyn, NY; the Indianapolis Museum of Art; Scottsdale's Civic Center, in so called "LOVE Park" in Philadelphia, the New Orleans Museum of Art's sculpture garden and on the University of Pennsylvania campus. There is also a "Love" Sculpture at the Red Rock Resort Spa and Casino in Las Vegas in the pool area.
So this clearly appeared in Philadelphia and NYC before it appeared in Japan.

The train otaku was harmless. I've seen worse than him in Europe.

It's kind of sad though. It's the third series I've seen with Itoh Misaki and she was irritating me again. Not as bad as in the first two, though, but still, she was really irritating for me.

Densha Otoko stage play

Post by tumbleweed89 » Oct 30th, '06, 05:03

So I was casually reading up on Densha Otoko and I read that there is a stage play version of it.

http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/p ... on-videos/

That really blew me away. I was wondering if any of you guys know if there is a english translation of it. I tried googling it but no dice. I'd love to see how they adapted it to the stage!

Thanks.

You probably found them by now, but soft subs are available for RAWS here for anyone else searching:

http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19530

As for the movie I know there are some versions found here: http://silentregrets.com/jmovies/densha-otoko-movie.php but I don't know if they are hardsubbed.

Hope this helps anyone looking.

Who played this girl?

Post by musotaku » May 26th, '07, 14:42

Anyone have any idea who played the girl who always prefaced her posts with, "I'm a woman, but..."?
She ended up as Oguri Shun's girlfriend.
I looked at every pic on the wiki and at Jdorama and I did not see her.

Just finished watching Densha Otoko for the first time. I laughed, I cried (though not as much as Densha), I cheered, and generally felt really happy after watching it. Can't remember the last time I could say that about a show.

How come at the end they cut it like that? Does that mean that they are going to have another special about the wedding? How come Misaki san didn't have the ring on at the end when they were walking on the beach!

DISCUSS AWAY, WE NEED MORE DETAILS!!!
I think the answer is simpler than you think.
Densha didn't have the balls to say "Will you m..m..marry me", he probably said something in the lines of "Will you m..m..make my curry" he's such a punce dont expect the answer to come out for another 5 specials, which in turn would be awesome.

Densha Otoko DVD Covers + DX (Fan made)

Post by nekoconeco » Feb 14th, '08, 04:06

Hey everyone,

I hope this is the right section to post this.
A few days ago one of my friends saw the series for the first time, so this reminded me of these covers I made a couple of years ago. I thought that I should post them just in case there's anyone else who might want them. Saves them gathering dust on my hard drive.

The first three are if you want one cover for the whole series. So theres three different choices.
Image Image Image

This is a set of covers in three volumes if you want to do it traditional DVD style.

If you see any problems or have any requests I don't mind changing them.

Thanks

I waited 3 years before watching Densha Otoko and i feel as though i have wasted those 3 years!!!!

Hermes-san is a Goddess!!

DO is my very first Jdrama and it won't be the last! I've cheered, cried (not as much as Densha) and cried again.

If all JDramas had this kind of heart and warmth, i'm gonna be an insomniac the rest of my life

these past 3 days... I've been devouring all info on DO and Misaki Itou!

i wish i watched this in 2005...sniff sniff

just finished Densha Otoko Deluxe (will watch it again tom)

my gripe:
- focused too much on the Black Pearl Quest, Misaki had too little exposure.
it could have been better if the Quest had half the air time , then the time is used to further develop the conflicts between Densha, Maezono and Hermes.

looking forward
- no ring on Hermes-san finger ---- smells like another SP (Yes!) though i hope it's the last and they will closed the story

Just finished this last night, watched Deluxe today, and I've already ranked it #1 in my short list of jdramas.

I agree with everything that's been said here. My 1 tiny gripe is I think there a little too much crying by Yamada-san. I'll admit I'm a noob to jdramas and don't understand everything but I think it was a bit much.

Anyways, Ito Misaki is smoking hot and is currently my fave jdrama actress. i'm trying to decide which series of hers i wanna watch next.

Sea of Love by Tsubaki?

The Japanese version is better. The english version and the instrumental version are in the official OST whereas the japanese version is not. I'm not sure if i can post a link for the japanese version though, don't want to get banned.

Should i watch the SP? I've seen the drama and the movie but I don't want to watch something pointless that detracts from the awesomeness of densha otoko.

Re the SP (Another Ending), you should watch it, it's pretty hilarious and fills some gaps in the Drama.. and you'll see Densha and Hermes ******************

Densha Otoko Deluxe is also recommended, the 1st half is so-so, but the 2nd half is an emotional BOMB~

Densha Otoko Deluxe is SP 2, another Special, which continues Densha's adventures with Hermes.

so you watch Densha Otoko: Another Ending (SP 1) then SP 2.

Both are 1hour and a half specials!

An unlikely couple they might appear, but they fell in love with each other because of what they found in each other's hearts. She found in him two qualities that were lacking in the man that dumped her and broke her heart; courage and honesty, and she really did not care what the package they came in looked like. He was certainly attracted to her because of her beauty, but he fell in love with her because she gave him two things no other woman in his life ever gave him; acceptance for who he truly was and simple human kindness. This is a great story about two very special people. As for the rest, if the main story had been a bit weak, Shiraishi Miho might very well have stolen the whole thing. I've liked her in everything I've seen. I don't think the casting could have been better for any of the characters, but Misaki-chan was born for this. When you need an angel why not get a real one?

just finished watching DO yesterday night. I agree that Misaki is very beautiful and glamorous. DO also inroduced me to Sato Eriko who I think is SMOKING hot! Damn, every time there was a scene with her I was just in constant utter disbelief at the hotness I was witnessing.

Even though I could see the ending scene coming from miles away where
Yamada confesses his true feelings for Hermes and she accepts him
I was still really moved by it and got a bit teary. That was definitely my favourite scene in DO.

this was the first dorama I ever watched and I thought it was pretty entertaining....very appropriate to today's fixation with anything online, lol....often times, when I was watching this with my gf, I just wanted to the main character to just come out and be more confident, even to the point where I would be on the edge of my seat, haha

Densha's lack of confidence was part of his appeal to Hermes, he was safe, she knew he couldn't hurt her. She knew that with him she would have complete control over their relationship and thus the feeling of safety. She probably wasn't consciously aware of it in those terms, though, not being a calculating type, just an honest girl with an open heart trying to protect herself.

This DO thread is old and moribund but I had to place a note here about a recent topic showing up in Life and Relationships that astounded me with its similarity to the DO story. The topic is titled "23 yrs old, never had a girlfriend". I just had to post a comment there pointing out the parallels (including the use of a discussion board) with one of my all-time favorite jdramas.

I should add that what this guy needs is his own Hermes.

Well, maybe the problem is that, with Itoh Misaki married, there aren't any more Hermes to be found.
