What does the Japanese law say about selling sexual favors?

Post by Keiko1981 » Nov 23rd, '08, 20:45

After watching the documentary The Great Happiness Space I began to wonder, what does the Japanese law say about selling sexual favors?

Spoiler for those who haven't seen the documentary
I thought it was really sad seeing the 'financially worshipping' where the girls compete about the hosts by buying champange and drinking.

This Wikipedia article should be a good place to start...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Japan
the definition of prostitution is strictly limited to coitus. This means sale of numerous sex acts such as oral sex, anal sex, intercrural sex and other non-coital sex acts are all legal.

Keiko~san,

I think the show which u pointed out is very biased view.. They only interview the girls who are themselves hostess. I agree on the sad part... and it happening in many place around the world, not just in happiness space. In families, a love relationship.. just not to maybe so strong extent..

Biased or not, I thought the documentary was very interesting. I've always thought of hosting as innocent fun, at least for the customers.
I felt really sad for the women, but also for the men. Making a living out of deceiving people and those people deceiving you back... (you know what he said about seeing his customers at other host clubs professing their love to other hosts.) I thought Issei was very charming in his interviews (as a host, not so much), but it was pretty sad that he had done it for so long he couldn't trust people anymore.
Maybe it was just a one side of a story, but a pretty sad side still.
