When I first introduced my friends to Nodame, they all thought Chiaki was way too mean in the first ep, but then as it went on and they got to know Nodame, they definitely moved to the 'self-defence' club!

Hana Yori Dango is definitely the first thing that springs to mind for this type of drama. I agree that Hana Kimi and Atashinchi no Danshi fit too.

As for TW dramas, definitely Miss No Good and Fated to Love You
