Japan and China Trip
Just returned from Japan and China a few weeks ago. Here are some of the Japan pics.
*sorry pics to big* Don't know how to modify.[/img]

Oh man The giant Gundam in odaiba was awesome, but we missed the light show when it moves and make noises by like 10 mins. Now they are disassembling it WTF!
Oh and I also want to know any foreigner living in japan. How would you go about to live in japan (like can you get a citizenship there) or is teaching english the only way?
While I was there I had no clue on how to speaking the language but we ended pretty good. Most of the locals didn't know english but they will try and help you. The only people that spoke good english were the employees of JR. A lot of them knew english and a few of them spoke PERFECT english.
Order food it was just pictionary for the whole 3 weeks. Just point at a picture and order. We went into 1 restuarant that had no pictures so we just ordered random things LOL.
Food was good, some of it was expensive, but we went to a gyudon place a lot called sukiya where you can order gyudon for like 380 yen which is like 4 dollars which filled me up (its basically rice + meat)

glad you had a great time, sounds like you had alot of fun,and I dont care what all my friends say, the gyudon places are awesome, lol, they just hate them. As far as living there, oh man, ive heard this question soooo many times, really, i have my approach to doing this, i know you could get a job working as a english teacher, but there is such a high influx of people doing that nowadays, nothing bad with it, you either hate it or you dont, working as an English teacher, a buddy of mine recommended working for private companies, for the most part japan wont let you in without a degree and proof that you have a job there, so get that college degree cranking, i would recommend looking at companies here that are global usually they might have a branch in japan in which you might be able to work yourself into, or easily apply to, I know I was once offered a job at a Japanese Bank through officeteam, so that could be another way, but I would recommend those whom really want to go there to visit first as a tourist or even school, while I enjoy Japan, I wouldnt want to live there, well currently not really, but my dream is to own a farm in Japan, hahahahahaha, shhh!!! i have dreams too, lol, I currently work at Trend Micro the antivirus software company, and we have a branch in Japan, and currently we have a few Japanese employees whom transferred over to our region. The jobs are there, it all depends on your qualifications, usually if you find a job in Japan, the company will secure your working documents. On my part im not ready do live over there, just about to finish my degree in finance! then im headed off to Law school
Uhhhh uhhhhh, im assuming you mean how well communication goes there, you would be surprised how many Japanese are willing to help you even if its only through gestures, I remember i purchased a sandwich but didnt know what it was, and the owner of the store started to kinda squirm and wiggle, lol, but they were trying to say sakana, or fish, its usually the best way to learn a language too if you go to a country and immerse yourself because you have to use what you learn there, I went to a intensive foreign language school (really really difficult class), the class is taught in japanese only, no english or anything, all instructions and books are in Japanese, but dont let that frighten you, as long as you are willing to put effort you did well, of course i looked like an idiot, lol, but in reality I never studied so hard, i learned sooo much of the language by just practicing it out in real life, along with a class to back me up. The school I attended was one of the cheapest and was located in Tokyo, its called KCP international, look it up, just dont tell them i sent you, its one of the cheapest programs, and its reallyfun, you will have foreign classmates from korea and china sitting next to you, its really funny when you can communicate with foreigners using all the same language, in our case JapaneseNeliets wrote:omg lol. Now i really want to visit Japan too Ffs, I`ll have to work very, very hard to get that kind of money loollool.
Btw - Is here anyone foreigner in Japan and living there not like tourist but moved there? I just want to know, how is it if you don`t know Japanese and, as far as I`ve seen, they haven`t got the best knowledge in English.
If you decide to travel to Japan not through school or exchange program( i really recommend this method, you dont have to be made out of money to go, it all depends on the effort you put), i recommend to travel with a buddy, you will both share a great experience, and will have someone for help. It also helps against homesickness, i knew a few people who had grown really homesick and just stayed at there place, a few girls cried, andfelt so alone, etc. The best way to remedy homesickness is through communicaiton with friend, and not isolation, i cant stress that enough. I know some of you are rebels but im just saying from what ive seen, lol, also if you are in need of immediate emergency medical attention, dont hesitate to call 119! they know english, and are free of charge unlike here in the states where it is mad expensive to call an ambulance
Here are a few random pics. Most taken out in the countryside in Niigata, except for the one in Shinjuku with the band playing.
Thank you all for your comments!

Wow Thanks for sharing your photos with us ^o^
I´m going to Japan this June ^o^ I´m so exited about it!!! I´m staying there for 5 weeks, but I don´t know yet where exactly I am going to - I will be informed as soon as it has been decided. I was selected by the local Japanese embassy to represent my country as an exchange student. Only two persons from my country were selected so I was really surprised when I was told that I am one of those two!

@merou1: Picture nr 154: there are pottery vases from Joumon period (~10000-~300 BC), they are made from clay and ornated with knots formed later in those "horns". Everything was made by hand, because Japan up to the next period didn't know the potter's wheel. Judging from the ornaments it's Middle Joumon.
Joumon itself means "cord pattern", because of 2 things: vases were ornated with cords wrapped around the sticks, or: the vases were formed using one long "cord" of clay, layered from bottom to top.

My visit to Osaka, Kyoto, Kitakyushu, then Oita prefecture. Great time. Going back to Kyushu soon.

I went to Japan in March this year. To Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. Spent a fair amount of time walking in the countryside. Near Osaka is this disused railway that goes through several dark dank tunnels. It's pretty unnerving, and also very beautiful.

Orbity - I went to that same shrine in Dazaifu many years ago. I forgot the name, but the picture felt familar so I checked.
Thanks everyone for sharing photos, especially of the less touristy spots. I actually have been living in Japan for two years, but since I work I don't get a chance to see as much as I would like!
Here are a few from me: Nothing epic, just things you don't see in tour books.

I have compiled some favourite shots that I took when I lived in Japan for a short while.
Most of them are landscape/nature photos taken on travels around Japan. Hope I get to go to all the prefectures someday!

Since there are so many beautiful pictures from Japan here I'm going to post a few favourite shots too. I've never lived in Japan (wish I could, but I'm not fit to be a teacher and I don't have a university degree anyway) but I'm spending my vacations there.

Rhere's been a typo for the name of the garden mentioned above, it's name is Hamarikyu Garden. Anyway, here's a picture of this garden with the Shiodome skyscrapers in the background. Although it's that close to a skyscraper district it is really quiet there with a nice atmosphere.

That's Kegon Falls, a waterfall in Chuzenji, a small town next to Nikko. If you ever come to Nikko and you've already seen the temples and Shrines go to Chuzenji an do some hiking there, and you won't regret it (at least if you like nature).

Now a few pictures taken in Shiogama. It's a small town near Sendai. If you ever want to see the famous Matsushima Bay (one of the Nippon Sankai) you'll pass through here. My recommendation: get of at Shiogama Station and take the ferry from Shiogama to Matsushimakaigan.

A few more pictures taken in Matsushima. Right now a very special season is drawing near. During the autumn foliage many gardens and temples offer special illuminations after sunset. As you can see in the pictures your entrance fee is well invested for this.

Reliving our trip to the various winter festivals in Hokkaido, five years ago. Here's a shot of Otaru:
Enoshima day trip
Inspired by all of the dramas and movies filmed in the Kanagawa region, my wife and I took a day trip to Enoshima during our last Tokyo visit in March 2017. Here are some pics from the Enoden rail line, a view of Enoshima, and the amazing aquarium.

Re: Japan pics, post your travel pics!
What wonderful pictures....I have newer been in Asia...but it's my dream)
Re: Japan pics, post your travel pics!
Wow, so many gorgeous pictures. I so envy you all. I should definitely visit Japan in future, I want it very much. But tell me one thing, are there some good hiking trails in mountain areas for foreign tourists? I'm asking because hiking is my main hobby now, I already visited a few national parks in US and Hawaii, I was always packing my backpack with guides on Willpowerpeak. so I decided why not go and discover a trail in Japan? Am I right?

In japan, I was on a hiking trip visiting various places with a small group. You can book such hiking trips and don't have to worry about aynthing. But now I'm really interested into walking the Nakasendo, an old mountain route between Kyoto and Tokyo. See: https://www.insidekyoto.com/walking-the ... de-and-map
