The National Police Safety Rescue, or NPS is the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s special assault team which possesses both the mobility of the Special Unit (SAT) as well as the investigative skills of the Special Investigations Team (SIT), and is tasked with bringing criminals into custody alive. This small elite team is a new approach to fighting against heinous crimes. Kamikura Ichigo (Mukai Osamu) retired from the life of a professional boxer and became a police officer after that. In his second year working as a uniformed police officer, an incident leads to him being scouted by the NPS. Armed with excellent reflexes, explosive power and punches honed through boxing, Kamikura is a close combat specialist who is good at getting control over his opponents using barefists. On the other hand, Soga Iori (Ayano Go) is a member of the SAT. Described as superhuman, he prides himself in his sharpshooting and is the SAT’s best sniper. Soga was once assigned to a police precinct because he had aspirations to become a detective. Before long, he arrested three robbers and attracted attention as one of the promising newcomers. This drama is very nice, has an exceptional cast, Mukai Osamu knew it was good, but the more I look at his work, the more I am convinced that it is a great actor.
The plot of this drama is very interesting, I tried to watch the first episode, but I do not know Japanese very well-
I hope with all my heart that someone translate into English this wonderful drama because it seems to deserve it. :)

he first episode has made 18.9% of the television audience :w00t: :salut:

Yup, the highest rating so far this season (excluding AIBOU).

The action scenes were great, esp. the part where Ichigo (Mukai) protected an SAT officer from the rain of bullets, that was quite a nerve-wracking scene. And for a non-martial artist, I think Mukai also did great in the hand-to-hand combat scene, great stunts.

But I'm not really into the story and characters. The lines felt so cliche and trying too hard to be touching. In terms of story, I still prefer SP (Okada Junichi) [another action-packed J-drama] due to the subtlety. But I think "Saigo no Keikan" have the potential to surpass SP in terms of action scenes... not yet, but it has the potential. Okada is a true martial artist though, it might be hard for Mukai to surpass him in terms of the action stunts, but he's doing pretty good so far.

I hope the story gets better and not too cliche anymore. Gonna watch Ep2 tonite.

I think exactly like you. To Mukai is one of his first experiences for this kind of drama, but gets along very well. With the passage of the episodes the scenes and the plot will evolve, making the drama even more exciting, especially from episode 6-7. :thumleft:
As already said before I just hope that is translated into English, in Japanese I'm not understanding little.

Im watching this drama because it featured Ayano and Mukai..
Love the first episode...havent watched the 2nd episode yet.
and seems like Soga has a "bad experience"? in the past that makes him acts like that..just like Kamikura

the rating for 2nd episode is down to 15.2% (still the highest rated drama for 2nd week)...
i hope the rating it will get back up again next episode (which happen to be on Ayano's 32nd birthday!)

=)

Strangely, I didn't like the action scenes in Ep2, I've seen it so many times in other action movies/dramas... but this time, I like the non-action parts
I love the NPS members' interaction and the go-kon scene was funny (I love how Soga walked in at such a bad timing, haha~)

I'm beginning to like Soga (Ayano) more than Ichigo (Mukai) too XD

Ep3 looks great!! Odagiri Jo! asdfghjkl;!!!

i've read a news mentioning that Odagiri will be the main villain in this series.
His name will be "M".

I really wanna see this drama so bad for Mukai!
+ it's the highest rating this season

It's really too sad to lose translators every season
till now I didn't see any sub for Winter drama except MatsuJun's Drama and other few things
but as for my list to watch this season nothing subbed except Jun's drama xD

anyone know anything about a team who's planning to sub this drama ?

Only seen Ep. 01 so far.
At first I was fastforwarding.
But halfway through, I got really interested, and watched the whole episode,
starting at the beginning. And that even while I can't understand Japanese,
just catching a word here and there.

@yanie:
I totally agree with you about that scene. When that situation ended, (with the sniper guy, protecting the officer too), I couldn't help but thinking along the lines of "Hollywood, eat your heart out!" :P

[edit]
O yeah, add another one (i.e.me) to the list of those who hope that this series will be picked up for subs.:P

Does anyone have the japanese subtitles at least?
Then maybe subbing it in English would be easier.

I'm watching this show for it's cast. Whoever was responsible for the casting deserves a major award
Not too sure if I like the story. All that talk about Ichigo's "protecting hand" and the not letting anybody die no matter what cheesy foundation isn't my cup of tea but thus far it's been balanced well with comedy parts and I hope there's more to the background story with the politicans trying to reform the forces and also some elaboration on the other characters' past (like the story between the SAT and NPS leader or Soga's past. And Anna Tsuchiya's role...

@yanie. Always prefered Ayano, so that's a given for me. So I'm hoping for more screentime for Soga

i've tried to translate it but sadly the subs didn't include the newscaster dialogue. and i sense that was quite important. to think that i excitedly downloaded all three episodes... sobss, guess we'll have to wait for someone to translate. and hopefully that will happen soon :))

I have timed sub episode 1-2 for raw file downloaded from clubbox kangjegu.
As eunmaru said, some dialogue of the newscaster in the beginning of episode 1 were missed. I can't catch up what she said, my listening skill is not good enough.

Really the TV dialog is missing sometimes? I had the feeling it was complete.

The TV dialog is missing in the subs when captions on the TV screen are on camera.
In episode 2, too, when there's that chat between the terrorists, subs don't include their sms because they can be seen on the screen.
Anyway, I'm enjoying this with japanese subtitles although my nihongo isn't up to the task, but I can understand what's going on. Hope someone will sub this in english! Reminds me a bit of the good ol' Security Police.
Here are the japanese subs timed by me.
