Look! :-)

Actress Choi Ji-woo has filmed a short television drama with Japanese star Kimura Takuya. The Japanese sports daily Sankei Sports reported on June 20 that Choi and Takuya co-starred in a drama that will air on Fuji TV's program "SMAP×SMAP" on June 27. Choi visited Japan last week to film the drama in a studio.

The newspaper also wrote that the drama starring Choi and Takuya is from the psychological game genre. In the story, the two main characters try to read each other's thoughts and mindset through facial expressions and gestures while playing cards.

Sankei Sports said Choi showed a completely different side of her acting talent by playing a composed and cool-headed woman, unlike her sensitive and emotional character in "Winter Sonata." The newspaper said Choi and Takuya looked serious when cameras were on, but laughed a lot when the filming was over or when they were checking just-filmed scenes on the site.

Sankei Sports also wrote that Takuya asked Choi about drama production in Korea. In response, Choi explained that each television drama in Korea usually consists of 20 episodes which air twice a week, and that oftentimes the filming lasts all night long. Takuya was reportedly very surprised to hear that each drama in Korea typically has up to 20 episodes.

The newspaper said Choi expressed her thanks to the Japanese production team in Japanese after the filming was over, and projected that this drama will draw significant attention as it features two high-profile stars who are Korean and Japanese.

Sankei Sports also wrote that preliminary sales of Choi's first DVD and photo album "Jiwoo Travel in Diary," which will be released in late July, have already begun on the Internet portal website "Excite."

It's so weird that they're talking in English though. x]
The Winter Sonata song is really overplayed o__o~ Why are they playing it in the clip? ;0

It's played for laughs. Choi ji woo is known in Japan for her role in Winter Sonata.

^^;; it's just a skit, just a skit. I actually thought it was a real "drama" when I first read that article but I can assume the term is just being used very loosely. The skit aired on the weekly Japanese variety show hosted by SMAP (Kimutaku, Inagaki Goro, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, Katori Shingo, Nakai Masahiro) called "SMAPxSMAP" (pronounced SMAP, SMAP; or SMA-SMA for short o_O; ) Some of you might actually be interested in watching the show regularly as they bring on board interesting guests and have entertaining (to me) segments like Roulette Bowling (YES!!!) and Bistro SMAP o_O;;

While we're on the subject of Choi Ji-woo starring dramas, I believe I heard she will be starring in a Japanese drama in the fall with a Long Vacation-alumni (not Kimutaku xP) Takenouchi Yutaka, who played Shinji (Minami's bro) for next winter's TBS drama lineup. and psst.. i don't think this one is a skit ~__^

What I hate about canes film festival seems like they don't give credit to Takuya and ignore him, they only gives credit to those HK movie stars . just watch the festival's clip in Canes festival website. :-(

they maybe true and ultimately unfair but the film is a chinese film populated by predominately chinese actors/actresses....kimura takuya only has a supporting role and he doesn't speak any chinese in the film to boot...but i liked his character though. :-)

he already stands out with his brightly colored hair....

and his pose..........but then again, Carina Lau does stand out too (although not as much)

maybe there were cameras at every side and for he just so happened to be looking at the one different from the others.

I don't think he should have accepted this role in the first place - turned out a lot of wasted time, a lot of frustrations on the way (the director is a nutter - KT had fly in and out of HK many time for nothing), plus it didn't contibute to his popularity as you, guys, have mentioned - the festival didn't care about Takuya at all. I feel sorry for him. I understand he wanted to go more international thru '2046' but I don't think he needs it at all - he has more than he needs fans in Asia and elsewhere.

Don't watch it - sheer disappointment. After watching it your heart will bleed for what they've done to Kimura-kun (not in the film , but in reality)- film is a failure and he is a part of it, doh! I can't believe his manager let him do it. Still makes me angry. :x

I totally agreee with Kodomo, 2046 is not for the fans of SMAP. They don't give credit to Kimura and I don't like the way they treat Takuya in festival either.

i've heard of this film, but i had NO idea kimura was in it. i can't even see him on the cover other than his name (correct me if im wrong). im sure it's disappointing for him, but i hope this doesn't stop him from ever being in future chinese films.

Only the 2 in the middle are well dressed. The 4 others look really ...hum

I mean, where did Kimutaku find this thin 80's tie and those 60's trousers??? And the shoes, have you seen the shoes? the other guy on the left bought his tuxedo at an Elvis fans convention and the girl at the extrem right looks like a frozen dish on the way to the microwave. :lol

I watched the film just for him. I thought he had great screen presence, as usual, and did really well given the language barrier and everything. Well whatever, maybe he deserves more attention from the press, but I'm biased when it comes to him so I'll always think he's great.

But what is all this about 2046 being a huge flop??? It was like the most highly regarded/anticipated films on this one list, I can't remember the list haaha. But it had the top spot and lots of reviewers are raving about it. I guess it's one of the cases where the general movie goers hated it asnd the critics love it.

First of all.. Kimura hates being called by that madeup nickname...even tho he may have been the first one to casually say it on his What's Up Smap radio show.

Second of all.. those photos of Kimura were from one of his Santaku end of year shows with his pal Akashiya the comedian. They were doing impersonations of Beyonce. I was really amazed at how with just very little makeup which he applied himself..and high heels ..he could get the essence of a sexy Beyonce. Fabulous to watch and of course very very funny from both of them. :lol Kimura is a wonderful mimic.

The picture taken for '2046' at the Cannes Film Festival was one of those walk the red carpet things. His hair was the wrong colour as he mentioned later. He said he had already had it back to being dark but then had to lighten it for the trip to Cannes. He said he did it too light but it was too late to do anything about it. I don't think it bothered him....He said he had a fabulous time in Cannes..lots of parties and interesting people to meet.

Re the film '2046. I like it immensely. I loved the music they used. I thought Kimura was super sexy especially with Carina Lau in the scene standing somewhere in the hotel hallway. Heartbreaking when he could not persuade the other girl to go back on the train with him.
Yes Wong Kar Wai makes strange movies but they need watching more than once.

I adore Takuya Kimura. I have a thread on Hotelier2002 website. Please visit. It's a good site altogether.

Uwah, I can't believe KimuTaku's thread is only 5 pages long!!! He's basically the most amazing Japanese actor ever, he's a legend and everyone loves him... but such a short thread! We need to do something about this. :D Let's talk about his dramas. What's your first/favorite drama you saw him in? My first was Good Luck!!, I loved that drama. Other than that, I've seen Pride and Beautiful Life- all great dramas!

My first Kimutaku drama was Pride - It was the first JDrama I watched that wasn't anime/manga related. Since then I've seen...a whole lot. Just take my word for it. :D

Another random thing I found while browsing the local Japanese paper again...
They are going to be releasing an official photobook and DVD on Kimura's 34th bday (11/13). It has been 10 yrs since his last photobook, and this one is supposed to show Kimura as he is in private -- in a more casual and relaxed mode.

The DVD basically consists of excerpts from a video diary that Kimura recorded for 71 days starting last Dec 18th. There will be a limited special release of the DVD that will come with a T-shirt designed by Kimura (it even has a serial number ^_^; ).

Also, his next movie "Bushi no ichibun" (武士の一分) is due to premiere on 12/1. :whistling:

My first Kimura Takuya drama was Engine. I had downloaded it because of Koyuki and I still wasn't used to jdoramas. Anyway, I thought it was boring because there wasn't enough kissing, no sex and zero scandalous love affairs (these are my pre-requisites for good dramas). But somehow, Kimura's appeal had registered in my head and now (3 months later) I have the hots for this actor. I must admit, Pride and Long Vacation helped. As a result, I'm downloading everything Kimura I can get my hands on: Hero (plus the SP), Love Generation, Nemureru Mori, Good Luck!!, Beautiful Life.

Please reupload this video if you still have it. Thank you.

Similiarity in features?

Post by alvahuang » Sep 21st, '06, 01:57

It seems like some feel that Won Bin looks like Kimura in terms of features... Here's a picture of Fukuyama Masaharu from Beauty and the Beast. I was just watching this drama and feel that he looks more alike to Kimura than Won Bin. Though it doesn't change the fact that they all look good haha... :)

PS: Sorry about taking the pictures I hope you guys don't mind...

Huh!! :O #1 Japanese actor with only a five-page thread??!!!

Konichi wa!! Watashi wa ash desu!! Watashi wa Philippine-jin desu!! Onegaishimasu, I'm not very familiar with Nihongo!! Hehehe!! :lol

I've watched Long Vacation, Chuushingura 1/47, and recently A Million Stars Falling from the Stars because of Fukatsu Eri and fell in love with TAKUYA KIMURA!! Firstly, when I watched Long Vacation, he's not that good looking at all but when I watched A Million Stars...., I was drawn into his acting and started to like .... hhmmmm love him!! I love the drama, so heartwarming and full of suspense. :tv: Thanks to d-addicts for the torrents and subtitles. :salut: I love watching him in a drama with Fukatsu Eri. I love her acting even though she's not that drop dead gorgeous like other Korean or Japanese actresses but her acting is great.... oopppss I think I have to go to Fukatsu Eri's thread... .... back to Takuya Kimura!!! I like it when he smiles, his face looks sweet but most of his pictures show that he is always pissed!!! Hehehe!! :P

My most favourite Kimura series is Long Vacation followed by Pride and Beautiful Life. I first saw him in Beautiful Life without knowing who he was and was struck by his good acting skills.

He was so amazing in Beautiful Life. Too bad it had a sad ending. Apparently I need to watch A Million Stars and Long Vacation, since everyone seems to love those dramas! Besides Beautiful Life, I've only seen KimuTaku in Pride and Good Luck!! (both of which I LOVED, by the way). I didn't know who he was in Good Luck!! Later I found out. I was like oh. He's really really famous. That makes sense. :P
