Other- Man I swear everyone forgets about the African brothers and sisters when it comes to etnicity polls on fourms. Whats up with that? Do yall actually think that were not into anything besides hip-hop?

Its sad though, im apart of another community called afro-punk were african-americans who are into the rock lifestyle (just not even though) just been influenced, who think outside the box in terms of what socially inept.

Please keep us in mind, I mean we revolve around so much, I hate for us to get left on the backburner again. Had to many people fight to get to this point.

ha, there's only a max of 10 options that can be placed in the poll, and i think it's rather difficult to add everyone in.

if it makes you feel any better, on any other poll, half the options above would have just been lumped into the 'asian' category.

from the looks of it it seems like the major reason for this poll is to find out which type of asian ppl visit this site cuz i'd assume every other ethnicity would either go under european or other o_O;; even indian ppl eventho they're also asian. -__-;; i guess it's interesting to see the results tho particularly for chinese, japanese and korean because those are the type of files being shared here =P

anyways forgot if i took this poll or not but I'm an ABC... american-born chinese... 1/4 Indonesian tho o_O;; and NO I don't know Kung-fu! =O

@Mattman: It is the same for me... In the Netherlands ppl think of me as a Chinese, and in China they don't see me as a Chinese, but more as a Dutchie... It's just weird, isn't?

Actually it's quite understandable, people always asses other people in what way they are different (so in what way they should adjust their behaviour towards those persons). For me it has just led to the fact that I don't really feel myself Dutch or German anymore, but more European (with a Dutch/German background).

true. people tend to lean towards the differences instead of the similarities. its just like kwon said.. here i'm seen as too chinese. But overseas, i'm too american.

Don't underestimate the power of languages, kwon. When you can speak someones own language and talk to him/her in that language, that person will (usually) feel more at ease.
And I think for you the situation is different from mine, when I'd be in the US, people would not make too much of a difference between a Dutch person and a German person anyway (if they know the difference at all).

I was just kidding about speaking German in the US... It's understandable to use a certain language if it's both person's native language or if it's the only language both persons have in common...

Korean-American. I was once told that I had a very Korean face. Of course, that was given in the context of me being surrounded by a whole bunch of Japanese friends. I'm still not sure whether or not I should regard that remark as a compliment.

I'm cajun through and through...

and also American CAN be an ethnicity because we're a mish mash of all kinds of stuff. Hence the name "the melting pot"....Because once you get down to it many people are like 7 different types of background...so by that point we just say American.

It's funny though, when I go to Korean restaurants, Korean people speak to me in Korean. When I go to FIlipino restaurants, Filipino people speak to me in Filipino. (I love Korean and Filipino food!) But when I go to Japanese restaurants, Japanese people speak to me in English! :lol Lots of my Japanese friends from Japan say I don't look Japanese though.

Laugh Lots of my Japanese friends from Japan say I don't look Japanese though.
:lol That's happened to me too. It's funny how restaurants assume you to be their ethnicity if you dine there and you're Asian.
The only thing that annoys me is when other ppl talk to me in spanish assuming that I'm a mexican(I'm Filipino btw)...It makes me think that they think that most mexicans can't speak/understand English so they talk in spanish... That makes my spanish blood boiling a lil bit....

Let's say you did know spanish. Wouldn't you speak that back to them instead of english?? I don't think it's a valid statement to say that someone doesn't understand english just because they rather speak their native tongue.

If I'm a mexican I'd still prefer they speak to me in English but then if they speak to me in spanish language then I would....

And I never said that most mexicans doesn't know how to speak/understand English coz I work with them evryday...They don't speak it much but they understand me in English...
