Just wait until episode 11.

*cries just thinking about it*

I'm not FTM, but I am lesbian (well, bisexual but I'm 95% lesbian o.o). I kind of get what she's going through in a sense - the discrimination anyway.

I'd say it's certainly time for Japan to have their version of QAF maybe...after all, maybe HG (though he's straight really) has opened up minds?
I only saw season 1, I'm waiting for season 2.....my friend is trying to buy them all (she saw them all already). Unfortunately season 1 is the only boxset to go lower in price. But sweet Jesus, Brian (Gale Howard) is SO HOT.

In case anyone doesn't know, I tend to be attracted to gay men (sometimes I know in advance, sometimes I don't XD), straight men doing "gay" acts, metrosexuals, himbo's, and assholes.

I wonder who would play in a Japanese QAF..... :faint: :scratchchin:

Ehhhh... it seems that gay characters in entertainment get a lot more slack than in actual society... Before HG, there have been any number of entertainers/talents who have been openly gay (or at least feigned being homosexual), and there's a whole segment of the manga industry that thrives on the idea of homosexual encounters.... Even so, I really have no idea if society is actually opening up to accept it though...

Beating Heart, a K drama, intertwines a trangender character played by Harisu. 1 of the episodes deals with the subjects of transgenders.

Yellow Hair 2 is a movie about a transgender (again played by Harisu) dealing with discriminatoin.

Road Movie is a movie about male homosexuals...

Memento Mori has some lesbian undertones.

Hmm, there's a gay guy in the comedy Liar starring Joo Jin Mo. That dude in Sex is Zero seems gay.

I do agree with you there :whistling: (But it's Gale Harold xD)

I bought season 1 right after it was released (the new packaging anyway) at fye for like, $36 \:D/ I was so happy. I found out season 2 comes out in January. I hate paying 50+ for boxsets. =(

Several gay-themed movies have already been mentioned. A few more that come to mind:

Japanese:
Like Grains of Sand (Nagisa no Shindobaddo) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113922/

Taiwanese:
Vive l'Amour (Aiqing wansui) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109066/
The River (He liu) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119263/

I got my episodes here. Do a search for "kinpachi sensei", it should come up with some. They're the ones that are titled "Kinpachi_Sensei_EP_##".I don't know the status of seeders, and unfortunately I download and delete so I can't help. =(

I kind of want to rewatch it again now. One of the two-part episodes had me in tears the rest of the night after watching it. (I think episode 11...) Some of the season is very painful to watch but it's worth it.

EDIT: I've uploaded the caps I took from when I watched it. I had planned on making avatars but never did. =(

They're all in BMP, but here's a sample PNG:

Zip file
I'm almost finished downloading Episode 11 and I just completed Ep. 10...

Can somebody please seed Ep. 9? There are no seeders at all! I hate skipping episodes and I'm curious to see what happens next.

I hope Kinpachi Sensei keeps seeding D: I've only got episode one, parts a and b so far *mediocre downloading speeds + few seeds = slooooooooooow*.

PS, that Kinki Kids gay drama I ordered came. I'll rip it and then send out a batch torrent when I get home from uni.

Thanks! :D I really appericiate it. I was stuck on 34% for the longest time...

Now I'm feeling a little upset because Ep. 11 was doing so great until all the seeders dissapeared and now that's stuck on 80% for hours. Could somebody be nice and seed that as well? It's supposed to be a really good episode *please don't spoil it*

Sorry for asking too much, new to this entire seeding idea... :pale:

I've just been notified by my friend Hana that Goto Maki is going to be starring as a lesbian in the drama "Yubi".

That's all I needed to hear. \:D/

Apparently it's just a special? But I can't say for sure.

Translated by Hana:
GoMaki's new situation! Starring in a forbidden "Lesbian" love-triangle drama

It was learned that singer Gotou Maki (20) will star in a Nihon TV special drama "Matsumoto Seichou Special 'Yubi'" (Set to air in February) about the love and hate world of lesbians. This is her first starring role in a commercial drama, and she plays an actress at the top [of the industry] while being involved in a lesbian love triangle. In this work in which eroticism is the point, Gotou said "It's a hard role to play, however I'll try my best", and vowed an enthusiastic performance.
-------
The dazzling forbidden lesbian world. GoMaki, who controls top idols, cuts through the new situation of being a full blown actress, and steps inside that world.

"Yubi" is a proprietery Matsumoto Seichou suspense work of the same name. The plot is that Gotou's part of a stage actress who can't get a job strategically uses her lesbianism* with a top theatrical troupe member (Takaoka Saki) and her patron, the wife of a company president (Manda Hisako), creating a love triangle and standing on top of the entertainment industry. A variety show reporter reporting on serial killings (Hoshino Mari) discloses the past hidden in secrets of that success [Gotou's?].

The same station's new drama, "Drama Complex" will have it's slot filled by this drama. Gotou had her first starring role in the movie "Seishun Bakachin Ryourijuku", and also starred in NHK's "RPG", but this is her first starring role in a commercial drama. Shows in the same slot as "Yubi" in seasons past have been the Tuesday Suspsense Theater that Natori Yuuko (48 ) starred in in 1982, and "Tuesday Suspense Theater"'s top rating was recorded at 28% (Video Research, Kantou Chiku) raised Gotou's anticipation.

*Huh? Didn't understand this part.

The bartender in Virgin Road (1997 | http://jdorama.com/drama.438.htm) was gay and played a medium-sized roll in the drama.

Hmm.. naw it cool. I tried to look on ebay and on yesasia.com. But chinese subtitles are what come up. Even though I have a region free dvd player.. doesn't help! * :glare:

I have a Streamload account and requested at http://noated.net/forum/ but the only ones I came up with are-

1. Net Deception / Zhui Hun Jiao Yi
2. Love Complex [HK]
3. Take my Word for It
4. Yasha

For the others I requested they suggested here [D-Addicts & Clubbox]
Don't know how to use clubbox. even with the tutorial provided by generous ppl.

If you have a streamload account and would like these shows (which i haven't d/l yet) email me [providing streamload screen name]. and I'll send you them via streamload.

Oh hey, I once watched a bit of this Chinese movie when I had satellite on one of the movie channels. It was about a gay businessman and he had a lot of tricks but one kept coming back. (Almost like Brian and Justin...) When he took him home for Xmas he said it was a business colleague or something. The title was in Chinese and I can't remember it at all. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

no need to be hostile. it was easy to assume you were talking about Harold, since some people, like me, have never been to Japan, therefore have absolutely no idea about a Japanese comedian named ... Hard Gay?

If you think I was being hostile, then you need to lighten up. :lol I'm sorry if you thought I was being that way.

And going to Japan has nothing to do with it, because the only country I've been to outside of the US is Canada. :P

That was HILARIOUS! I couldn't believe they put up with him *o*;; The first one I saw was when he was helping some worker load beer into a car. Later he "helped" out an acoustic street performer by yelling and grinding all over the place to the mellow music. xD GOLD I TELL YOU, GOLD.

I think enkhee interpreted the response as being hostile b/c of the Foo!
Capitalized like that, it looks like "fool", especially if you have no idea who HG is. "Fooooo !" is a trademark HG...mm...saying? Anyway, it's one of the gimmicks he's most recognized for.

Um...Who's Harold Gale? ^_^;;;;
*looks up in wikipedia*

EDIT: Uh, I guess it's Gale Harold... ^_^;;;;;; never mind me... I have no cable and no TV... -_-

I'm finally home from school (actually I got home late last week, but the holidays tied me up), but I've finally got some time so I'll be ripping that drama I got off eBay tonight. Let's see if I can get a torrent up by tomorrow. Just to warn you, my connection is pretty slow XD but I can leave it on 24/7 and I don't have to watch how much I upload. So that's my update XD

Hard Gay is so attractive. <3 <3 <3
All that leather. :d
I thought that being gay is kind of taboo in Japan right now. That's what my impression was, anyway. That kind of thing can change pretty fast in societies.
Watch any movie with Leslie Cheung in it (especially Farewell, My Concubine... I really want to see Happy Together, but I can't find it for rent or download). He really was an awesome actor and first to achieve a lot of amazing things in Asia (above and beyond being a bisexual actor).
When Japan has a live action series of blatant gayety, it will be awesome. Unless it's not. But that's unlikely.

Alright, I've got it on my computer. There's an episode and a half on each disc, in scattered files. What I mean by that is that there's one file on disc one that contains both episode one and the first half of episode two. Then on disc two, there's two files, one is the second half of the second episode and the other is the third. Same thing with the other discs. Also all the files are .DAT.

Here's the problem: I can't find a program that will fully cut the files (so I can make sure there's only one episode in each file) and convert them to .avi or .mpg or whatever for free.

Do you guys just want the .DAT files as they are or does someone want to try and take a hack at them? .DAT files play in VLC (I don't know about other players) just fine. If you want them, I can load them up as a batch tonight.

What do you guys think?

PS, it's Ningen Shikkaku.

Gay people are usually portrayed as a joke or comical character in most dramas they are in. Most times when a popular actor/actress announces that they are gay they lose basically all their fame. Its not really a popular subject or something that brings a lot of attention cuz its not something most people care about. in korea at least, youre either straight or youre an outcast. and who wants to make that a drama, when dramas almost always focuses on popular good looking people and traditional romance.

Even in the US, Ellen DeGeneres basically lost everything when she came out as a lesbian in 1997. Her long-running TV show was cancelled and it was like she went into hiding. When she made her comeback doing stand-up in 2000, she was welcomed with huuuge applause not only from the LGBT audience but also from straighties who highly respected her. She now has one of the highest-rated daytime talk shows.

People can make a comeback after coming out. Times are changing and things are getting better, slowly but surely.

Are you sure Wapiko? I always enjoyed Ellen DeGeneres even before she came out, but when she made a big deal out of it, thats when her tv show ratings went down because they basically changed the script of the entire show to fit the homosexual lifestyle.

I mean in her comedy acts, she doesn't dwell on her homosexuality too much, if she did, she would lose a lot of fans, and she knows that.

Am I sure about what?

I'm not sure SHE was the one to make a big deal out of it. While I'm assuming she did probably help out with the script somehow, it probably wasn't her decision to make it go the way it did. However, I don't remember a lot so it's possible I'm wrong.

has anyone found eng subs for crystal boys. TRIVIA: at least two of the characters from Formula 17 is starring in Crystal BOys. It's Tony Yang (or yoyo Yang) who's the lead character (the 17-year old virgin) and his bestfriend whose name I don't know. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND "formula 17." It's the best.

yes.. go aarinfantasy.com THey have quite a collection of direct DL's
they have like grains of sand which is good movie, although it tends to be boring because of its "mode." It's prety much starightforward and less "pop." More "serious" in fact.

looking up on gay-torrents.com now.

If you are talking about Asian dramas in general, I'm pretty sure Filipino dramas have gay people in them. I've not seen any but homosexuality is that country is very open.

Dousoukai (Alumi Reunion is the Asian Queer as Folk) Its a Japanese dorama. U guys who are gay should check out gaytorrentnews.org Free sign up all the gay themed romance movies, etc there. And in the Phillippines its not really accepted as u say it is bc its actually stereotyped. Gay people there are all thought to be feminine and or transexual or drag queens. They are jokes and prostitutes to alot of the people there. Its not like my country is known for being accepting. It is one of the most conservative places in the world. Especially, if there are any Filipinos reading this, they d agree cause even now its not like u see guys holding hands and kissing in the streets everywhere.

Holy crap are you serious? I wish I could find that. My Japanese is extremely rusty but if it's anything like QAF I'd love to see that if it's able to be found.

hahaha.. that might be a little over-reading. i think the point of the drama is to show how shuji, a very popular guy at school but who actually doesn't have any REAL friends, inds a true friend from the person he hates most. Moreover, the title was Nobuta wo Produce... but in the end... it was Shuji was "produced," because he became a good person because of two people that changed his life. I'm very sure that there was no gay innuendo in this drama... at least that's what I think of.

I agree XD It was more a show about friendship than about anything else.

okay, that's a bit out of context, but Akira does seem to have some bisexual tendencies at least, i can't put it all down to cultural differences. even some of my Japanese friends said he was gay.

I agree >_> while the show itself wasn't gay (or gay enough to be called gay, everything ends up having gay moments XD no matter the country of origin), but Akira was pretty off XD Maybe he was just crazy. Maybe he was just flamboyant (this does happen o_O I have a friend at school who is straight but he acts SO GAY). But he's just a little more gay than your normal Japanese teenager.

Yay~ So many titles. 8D *wrote them all down* Now if only they all had English subtitles so I could actually understand them -- provided I find a place to download them in the first place. XD

Formula 17 is sooo~ good! It's one of my favourite movies. Definitely a must-watch. Hilarious, yet romantic. ^_^

Nobuta wo Produce just has slashable characters, that's all (especially with the ending). Everyone should watch it regardless, though~ Akira's insane. XD

Ohh, I read that MARS has a gay character, but I haven't actually been able to see him since there hasn't been any seeders for episode 2+ for months. D:

Uwa! I watched that clip from Ningen Shikkaku with KinKi Kids, but... Aren't they brothers in real life? Didn't that weird them out filming it? XD

I find it to be a very likely possibility that Shuji and Akira were both gay or at least interested in each other a little bit in that way.

Shuji never showed any interest in any woman throughout the show and he was very much in tune with his feminine side. Akira was a lot like a campy gay friend of mine, what with always sitting in Shuji's lap and thelike. I know Japanese guys are different, but I have to see one a straight guy as campy as Akira, Japanese or otherwise.

I thought it was also somewhat telling that everything pointed to Nobuta having a crush on Shuji midway through the show (the whole tape incident thing), but that her crush simply faded away over the next few episodes. Bad storytelling or did Nobuta realise she couldn't have him because Shuji was so blatantly not interested in women?

There is definitely boy love subtext.

Oh, oh! How could I forget? In Gachibaka! there's Gondou's best friend, Shinobu, who is very obviously gay, and he also obviously has a romantic interest in Gondou. I loved him. XD In one of the episodes the two of them went to a bathhouse and -- well, watch it. I died laughing. XD

Sorry, off topic for a sec, but who's the person in Kirari's icon? Is that a girl or a guy?
