Sawajiri Erika
It's pretty hard to watch 1 Litre of Tears and not fall in love with this girl...
She's also in Shinobi: Heart Under Blade, which I can't wait to buy the DVD of.

She is pretty cute..Well on the teeth matter, donn wanna get in it since I alredy have a thread dedicated to that..lol.Well anyway cannot wait to see more of her in the future.Hopefully she is not like those stars that shine for like a year and disappear forever never to be seen again...hmm..well I guess she has been around a bit since she's been a gravure idol for a while.oooooh..those bikini shots..lol
Dont know .. not a big fan of hers and in the last dramas she just played minor charactersLe Piaf wrote:Wasn't it the same with Sato Eriko ? Ayumi Hamasaki as well, who later got tired of acting.
It seems the standard strategy for "farming" talents is going by the looks first, until they grow out of it, and if they survive the media exposure, their able to hold up in the acting or singer careers as well.
Somewhat a chauvinistic way of producing new young talent base but it seems to work there.

Actually, her mother is of Algerian descent...zdoon wrote:Wow. According to that wiki site, her mother is French.
Good grief, her father died of cancer and her younger brother died in a traffic accident all within a year of each other!
And she joined the entertainment industry to meet Amuro Namie... lol

Nope but they do dig up lookalikes in Japan to spawn off of their names.
Just do a search for Yuko Ogura and You'll see what I mean.
Who better than Sawajiri to portray Aya in "1 litre of tears" then.mizune wrote: Good grief, her father died of cancer and her younger brother died in a traffic accident all within a year of each other!
Kudos to the casting team. Perhaps it made it easier for Aya's family to accept her to portray her as she has gone through rough times too.

I think I was totally crazy about her now, her performance in 1 litre of tears is really perfect and attractive, looking forward to her next work……tUrtleAE86 wrote:It's pretty hard to watch 1 Litre of Tears and not fall in love with this girl...

Haha, I bet you guys who hate her bikini, softcore stuff, don't like your girlfriends going to the beach and wearing bikinis too huh.
"What! I told you, put some clothes back on! Now! What?!? We're leaving. Let's go!"
Just appreciate the fact that if not for getting somewhat famous with her bikini shots, she wouldn't even be hired for roles in dramas and movies. You have to get yourself into the spotlight somehow...Andy Dick did it with gay porn.

I'll always be a fan of her acting.
I won't say anything too definite about the gravure, because the atmosphere around that is so tense that if I put my foot down somewhere, a land mine might go off. But I will say that I think there is a difference between "beauty" and "sex." The reason that people are disagreeing about how acceptable the gravure is is that everyone draws the line between the two at different places. Those who feel gravure crosses too far into "sex" are troubled. Those who feel gravure remains in the realm of "beauty" are not troubled.
I'm pretty sure that most guys (and this is speaking as one) won't have any "pervy" thoughts about Sawajiri after 1 Litre. The fans love her as an actress first and foremost (I'm going to put my foot down there -- I don't that's going to set off any landmines... ). The problem is (and I think impression151 hit this nail on the head) that sometimes we fans become a little too overprotective of our favorite stars and start arguing about what they should or shouldn't do. Sawajiri is old enough to decide what she wants to do with her life, and we as fans should respect that, have faith in her, and continue to do what we're good at doing: cheer her on and support her as always.
Looking forward to her next drama!

not quite, i would love to see my gf wear a bikini myself, anyway i dont hate Erika for doing those bikini shots, it just looks weird cus i imagined her as an 'angel' in the drama, and yes without Gravure's help, she might've not become an actress at all. The fact that bothers me abit is that she was just 17 when she did those bikini shots...not my kinda liking though. . Anyway she looks much more matured nowimpression151 wrote:Haha, I bet you guys who hate her bikini, softcore stuff, don't like your girlfriends going to the beach and wearing bikinis too huh.

Don't want to disappoint you guys....
Don't really want to disappoint all you fans of Erika, but she is famous for being promiscuous and rude in the entertainment industry. She has been reported to be horrible to fellow actress (most notably Saeko, an actress who starred in Dragon Sakura). It was also said that in interviews, Ryo Nishikido (co-star of 1Litre of Tears) referred Erika as Sawajiri san whereas regarding Ann Suzuki, he referred her as Ann chan.

Wow. That's pretty interesting, thanks for the articles! I had no idea she was like that.kimi4321 wrote:Don't really want to disappoint all you fans of Erika, but she is famous for being promiscuous and rude in the entertainment industry. I guess everyone can't be nice can they now. A bit off topic, but I think Anne Suzuki is great though, although I haven't been able to see her in anything since Gambatte Ikimasshoi.
^^ wow, that is interesting. i mean...she fooled me. hehehe. she looks so innocent in 1 litre of tears. but you know, when you see her photos, there mostly with her in a bikini or something like that. that really gives you a different idea about her. she's a great actress though. She don't look like a rude person at all but i'm not her and i only know of her so i can't really say. i hope that her being rude isn't true though.
my favorite japanese actresses who are young:
anne suzuki...she's cute and she seems very loving. she's seems like a cool elder sister.
inoue mao...she's also cute and i think she acts like a kid sometimes...which i think is cute. you never want to grow up too fast. BUT she seems very serious about her work too.

I "fall in love" with her after i saw ep1 of 1L of tears ^^ She is so damn cute ..hehe... pretty, cute, adorable and beautiful does attract both sexes ^^ HEHE ...
anyway after watching that drama, i searched online for her info, and found alot of sexy pics, that sort of saddens me abit as I prefer her as cute and sweet and all innocent looking than to those sexy images.

Gah, I totally ADORE this girl after watching ONE LITRE OF TEARS. She is so naturally poised and beautiful, it isn't a wonder why everyone seems to fall in love w/ her Aya. I love how expressive her eyes are and how sweet her smile is. She is a great actress and I hope to watch more of her series. Without her poignant and earnest portrayal of Aya, I don't think we'd love Aya as much as we do.
But hmm, yeah, I've seen those revealing photos of Erika. But it seems as though this is quite a common thing in the Japananese entertainment industry. Young, pretty girls become GRAVURE models and when they're recognized (unfortunately by their beauty before their talent), they get to opportunities to act or sing to expand their careers. Wasn't Hamasaki Ayumi a GRAVURE model, too, back when she was a pre-teen? I guess everyone's gotta start somewhere.
Well, in Erika's defense, I gotta say that those binki photos of her aren't all that bad. They bring out the innocent sexiness in her. They aren't the trashy, gross kind of shots, do you know what I mean? She still looks very young, fresh and lively in them. American celebs pose in bikini shots all the time - either on magazine photo shoots or in tabloids - so *shrug* Erika's old enough to make decisions on what she wants to do with her career. She is a fine actress and that's all I care about!
Oh and also, if she is a nasty person behind that angelic facade...ah well....no one is perfect!!! As long as I just continue to adore her for her acting...all is good!!

Well, as a person, I don't know her personally so I have not much of a comment on if she's really like that and she actually ran out of her house soo many times and abused Saeko and had many boyfriends and such...it's still a mystery but at lest if she does her work and she's a good person around her, then it's good..if she's not...that's her own problem.
