I'm 6'1 and an American Born Chinese. I always get commented on by the elder generation because of my height and even asked how I got this tall!
Considering my mom is like 4'11 and my dad is 5'5 I wonder how also. That's not the only crazy thing either I happen to be a twin also. So, you can imagine the amount of attention we get when we hang out. O_o;

Too ALL the girls in this topic. Answer this: Would you prefer to go out with a guy taller than you or shorter than you?
Personality aside - 'cos I know at least one girl will say sumthin' like "I wouldn't mind dating a guy shorter than me if he had a nice personality!" *lol*
So...would you prefer to go out with a guy taller than you, or shorter than you? And how tall is too tall for you in your books?

I am above average, a few inches shorter never bothered me but the guy tends to not want me wearing heels.JC wrote:Too ALL the girls in this topic. Answer this: Would you prefer to go out with a guy taller than you or shorter than you?

Some of you people r lucky to be taller than 5'5. I'm only 5'3 get made fun of by my brothers for being short cause their tall. I've taken a liking towards really tall guys, but have learned that most of them are more attracted to taller girls. My korean friend who is 6'5 says he would be more attracted to a taller girl above 5'8, same with other friend who is 6'3. Plus, tall girls generally have longer legs and look better in clothes. But, I guess i'm still taller than my other asian friends who generally are 2 inches shorter than me.

You don't need to be that tall for basketball, just look at Spud Webb, just need lots of speed.nikochanr3 wrote:sigh, im 5'5''. i wish i was taller just cause ive ran into girls who i liked who were bigger than me in heels and also for basketball. 5'5'' has got me leveled sometimes....amall enough to get clobbered in the lane. my wife is a little less than 5' so its ok i guess.

I think i like taller guys better but i can't really say that because i haven't meet a guy my age shorter than me. Who knows maybe i would find him cute.
If a guy is taller i don't think he can can necessarily protect the girl better, that definitely depends on the character. The character is much much more important so don't worry shorter guys out there. Work on your personality and everything will be fine.
If think the hight thing is just in our heads because the society thought us so (fairytales where the prince is always taller not to mention asian dramas)
I was wondering how much shorter a girl should be from you guys?

I like taller guys too, then again at 5'1, I RARELY come across a guy shorter than me About how much shorter a girl should be, my guy friends say as long as she's shorter or the same height in 3" heels, they're fine.tisa wrote:I think i like taller guys better but i can't really say that because i haven't meet a guy my age shorter than me. I'm 6'1 (~186 cm) which is no longer that tall compared to the new breed of Asian males with better nutrition. The last girl I dated was a full foot shorter than me at 5'1. I actually had to squat down to hug her. I also had to slouch slightly when we walk on the streets just to hold her hands. That strained my lower back. We got funny looks all the time. Now I try to date girls who are at least 5'6.
Sounds familiar to me. I'm 6'10.berserk wrote:The last girl I dated was a full foot shorter than me at 5'1. I actually had to squat down to hug her. I also had to slouch slightly when we walk on the streets just to hold her hands. That strained my lower back. We got funny looks all the time.
I still prefer short girls though.

The problem with tall girls is not their height per se, but the fact that it often affects their body shape in certain ways. Most of the time, they are too skinny, or their backs are not straight, or their waist-to-hip ratio is wrong etc.
This is why short girls usually look a lot better. They look more feminine and healthy in general. Most people seem to think that tall men are attracted by tall women, but this is not true at all. The vast majority of "tall club" visitors are female.
Of course I'm generalizing here. As a matter of fact, there have always been notable exceptions from the rule. For example, the young Sigourney Weaver was considered hot back then, and she's 182cm!
By the way, 175cm is not tall by northern European standards. It's average. If you look at statistics, keep in mind that it's normal for young people to grow taller than their parents.

I'm 5.1... it's not so unbearable, but if only I was just a little taller...
I opened the door this afternoon... the person was looking 20cm too high and seems a little surprise when his eyes came down... some details like that make me sigh... that and the book I need always just too hight for me (can touch but not catch )

I have to say... I'm about 170 cm tall... That's not unusual... But, whenever I go out... I meet guys who are smaller than I am... It's weird. And of course they are not interested in a girl who is taller.
It's frustrating. You feel unwanted...
Only good thing about being a bit tall... you never have problems to reach things...
But... people out there... Don't wish to be tall. Beig tall has its own problems... just as being small has.
And I think.. small girls are way cuter... I want to be smaaaaalll... T-T

I'm 5'3 and proud
I love my height! I can backflip more easliy and get into small places. The ONLY downfall to being smaller in length is not being able to reach the top shelf!!

This is a good social topic. The tallest people on earth on average are the Dutch according to an AOL news item i saw about a month ago. Average male height there is 6' or 6'1" and the average female height there is 5'7".
I'm 6 foot exactly. Let's all have fun converting centimeters to feet and feet to centimeters......shall we?
It's 2.54 centimeters per inch so if you are say 170 centimeters then divide by 2.54 which is 66.93 and then divide by 12 cuz there is 12 inches in a foot. Just plug it into the calculator on your computer. 170/2.54=66.93 and then 66.93/12=5.57
So you are 5'6". Backwards that would be 5.6 x 12 = 67.2 and 67.2 x 2.54 = 170.688
It's close enough. I guess we don't care about them centimeters over here in America do we? Cuz after all maybe you just didn't use conditioner in your hair today and so it is frizzy and you have 2 more centimeters.
I like pretty asian girls. Anything between 5'2" and 5'11" is ok with me but i am a little uncertain if it is practical to be with a girl under 5'5". I guess I will just have to find out.
I think there will be some differences in friends and also lifestyle is affected.
But gee, they can be so charming sometimes. My pretty "girlfriend" in Cebu is around 5'2" and has the prettiest voice and she had the cutest graduation picture that i just couldn't help befriending her but she is not giving me any attention now for 2 or 3 months and I can't figure out if she is playing me or has just given up on me coming over there to visit her. Well things are starting to turn around for me financially so I think i will be able to vacation to Asia within 6 months. http://www.myspace.com/aironeousb

I almost forgot to talk about growth hormone and also vitamin deficiency. If you are lacking certain things like zinc it will stunt your growth. Also your thyroid needs iodine to make its hormones. There is a certain set of amino acids that will induce your body to secrete more growth hormone and also Creatine will do this too (make sure you don't take too much creatine everyday or you'll get cramps easily). Just make sure you take a really good multi vitamin and tryo your luck with the creatine in small amounts and the amino acid formulas for HGH. A non-profit organization that answers everything you need to know and also sells the stuff is http://www.lef.org their multi vitamin is called the life extension mix. Their money goes to giving grants to independent researchers that are trying to find ways to extend or save human lives.

Been drinking milk and for years but I guess you can't escape the harsh reality of having the short genes....I am 19 so I doubt I would grow anymore. Man you know males my age, like all my friends are all so damn tall. Hmm you guys have any way of growing at my age? and does weightlifting really stunt your growth?

being tall isn't everything, sometimes too much of anything isn't good at all... but they said it's good to be tall as in it's means that you are a high achiever...
i'm only 1.65cm and i do wish i was slightly taller, like 1.7 - 1.75cm. Higher than that, it's abit too freaky .. for me ...
most girls like tall guys I guess ... hehe

I'm 5'10" (178cm) I feel strange when there's a girl around taller than me cause I'm used to being the tallest. I think I've been this height since I was 14 or 15 too.
Let me say finding clothes that fit is so freaking hard! I just bought a pair of x-long jeans made for tall people. Sleeves are also a problem, so it's not always nice being tall. Plus, I have big feet as well.

I'm 162 cm (about 5'3). That's perhaps a bit shorter than the average for women in my country. Don't know if I'd want to be taller. I'm pretty comfortable with my height except when I'm in the presence of very tall people (I mean basketball tall here), then I feel uncomfortable, like they're towering over me with their height.
