So yeah, if you want your ego stroked, go to night club in Korea or Japan...

They will hit on you if you keep your eyes open, reciprocate interested looks and give encouraging smiles. I've never had any problems getting dates or get acquainted to nice Asian girls to hang out with, but I've heard of so many other women who did... maybe it's because I'm more daring or something and because I'm not shy? you got me all wrong

.....of course I didn't have any problems with korean or japanese people, I had a great time and they treated me as If I was celebrity or something.....taking pics of me, with me , touching my smooth hair, saying that Im cute, beautiful, that I could be a model, that my voice is great, and everything about me is so amazing.....BUT...Im don't like being treated this way...I felt as If I was a really rare animal at the zoo, that everyone admires....so this feeling is nice for about a week, but after that its getting tiring
The problem is in me, because I don't want to be treated as a foreigner. No matter how good my japanese is, I am still "gaijin", only because Im european....the fact is that my way of thinking or behaving is far from european....so .When Im Japan I just don't want to stand out that much......

About being tall:
............... I just don't want to be taller than most of the guys.
Abot other stuff:
...and don't want people to look at my "big eyes" cause there are not that big,......but I do have too big feet:(-26...Cute shoes are till 25,5

Sounds like you should definitely go to Korea, then. I got the 'celebrity' treatment in Taiwan a little (not as extreme as you described...), but, for the most, I got treated in Korea very respectfully and kindly by the people. Though they did want to touch my hair sometimes, I often felt like they were just nice to me, just with an extra little bit of interest because of my origin. But they were never annoying or anything and never asked me for pics a minute after we'd met. They also didn't jump at me and told me they I was cute, though they DID tell me when I gave them 'permission' to approach me, for example with a nice smile.

And I'm sorry for getting it wrong, it just sounded like you weren't happy with your looks up there saying how you would like to look Asian and therefore just assumed that you had the same problem of feeling mostly invisible like I know so many other women do in Japan. It seems to be the most common thing women complain about (just go to any Japan-specific forums...) Well, I guess I should have known it wouldn't be that, you do look very pretty in your avatar.

And about you not wanting to be taller than your men... well, Korean men are very tall. Most I met were above 180 cm and a good deal were even above 190. 170+ cm wasn't unusual for women, either. So unless you're not REALLY tall, I don't think you'd feel like a freak there...

Hey....I am at 3 or 4 new words per day Korean. Yesterday was mashida,meokda,Juda and Kajida. Today is hmmmmmm Don't know yet. Well here is another pic. Just trying to get one that looks ok and practicing with the new 12mp camera from Taiwan. I am not going to shrink it down farther from 185K cuz I have to use it on other sites, so it might take some time to load. We all have current computers with DSL or better right?

I assume you take Korean classes. II you don't mind me asking, how did you get a conversation partner? I kind of want to do the same thing. I take classes but in Japanese and am also looking for a conversation partner. I could go to a tutor they have but want to try to converse more common Japanese, you know what I mean? Thanks, and again, I hope you don't mond me asking.

Actually, I've taken a few years of Japanese classes. At the university I go to, aside from the normal intake of international students that come to learn English, they regularly run special exchange programs. Normal term students are offered and encouraged to get conversation partners which the institution screens and places with a student. Conversation partners for the special programs are a necessity that require a intensive commitment for just a few weeks.

Now in your case, I'm not sure what's available in your area, but I would recommend contacting your local university's office of international students. In my case, we have a special ESL institute partnered with the university. If the office isn't very helpful, I'd recommend looking into if there're any similiar TOEFL prep programs that might be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Actually, I think there have been those type of programs your talking about. I just never really looked into it. I go to a community college for Japanese so they might not offer as much as a university. I'll ask around my college since theres a foreign language office somewhere. I really want to try to get one so I can improve a lot more. And like you said, If I do that, I should be really committed. I searched for that prep program, TOEFL but didn't find too many things. I guess it's mostly for English teaching (which I do not plan on doing)
