Best and Worst and WTF K-drama fashion

Post by nophankh » Feb 19th, '07, 21:16

Looking at fashion in J-drama, C-drama, Twn-drama, and K-drama; I'm really impressed with K-drama's original and innovative style. However, there also seems to be a lot of "what psychedelic drug was the stylist taking?"

WTF and Worst Fashion style in K-drama

1. Full House-Great drama, but wtf are they wearing?!

I really feel bad for Rain. He is such a great looking guy, but why did they have to ruin him with a yellow tank top and baby-blue athlete pants. Also, what the hell is up with the coral-white flip-flops.

I also hated that floral print shirt that he wore on the plane and I think he wore white pants with it. I just wanted to gag when I saw it.

no man should wear floral print blazer with white pants.

2. Spring Waltz is truly the Kermit the Frog of K-dramas.

Is it just me, or did the stylist dress this actress like the local old-hag loony that shops around the neighborhood with her handy grocery cart looking for recyclable cans?

3. My delightful girl

what in the hell is he wearing?

4. Goong
Do you guys remember the polka-dot shirt and the polka-dot scarf? maybe I'm sexist, but no man should wear tiny polka-dot print scarfs.

gosh, now, it's baby blue polka-dots

Great outfits

I love what they were wearing in this scene, it's refine, color-coordinated, and still playful. Ji Joon looked handsome in his clean white shirt and simple 1960's straight tie and nicely loose pair of jeans. Eun Hye looked adorable with her playful grayish blue skirt and ruffled peach blouse.

LOVE this dress, but hate his funky tie.

lol i totally agree!

Worse: Bi's fashion was horrible in Full House, loved the series and Bi's a cutie and all, but dude, his wardrobe in that series has got to go! And the sad part about it was he was supposed to be a very stylish actor but man, with those clothes, it just didnt make sense. Well that bitchy girl that he liked at first was his fashion designer/dresser so that's prolly why his clothes were trash. I especially hated that green shirt he wore with the ridiculously low-cut V-neck and the white pants...i was like WTH?! :blink

WTF:Though I know he was a prince in Goong, but some of Joo Ji Hoon's clothing in Goong were a bit odd, like the sweaters with the flowers and stuff on them and some of the old man golf pants were just not workin' for me.

Best: i totally adored Hyun Bin's wardrobe in MNIKSS, it was super hot! it was so colorful, but not in a gay way, it was just very fashionable. I totally love the blazer, dress shirt, nice jeans with belt look. very metro yet stylish. (and his tall and toned body def made the clothes even nicer lol.) Daniel's clothes were nice too.

Yep, the outfits in Full House were pretty horrific. Same goes for Super Rookie * One Fine Day...*puke*

I loved every outfit worn by Jung Jae Min in What happened in Bali! *swoon*

You didn't even mention the worst part of Bi's outfit in that first picture: the hat. That amazingly pointless, ugly, orange, straw hat. It still bothers me everytime I think of that drama. No...just no.

Yeah, I know. Full House is kindda boringgg... The plot doesn't have a slightest meaning, and yet I gets so much attention for the audience. Poor Bi and Song Hye Kyo have to be in this drama..

I totally agree. I love the fashion in Dal Ja's spring. It's original and the clothes convey the personality of each character. It's different, it's clean and refine. Everyone in this drama looks so stylish except Gong Hyung Jin . This man be wearing the funkiest clothing. On several occasion he exhibits the male camel toe with his ugly, too tight pants. I wish I had pictures.

I'm in the myst of snow queen and love bo rak's wardrobe too. it's clean yet stylish and chic look. in some other drama e.g. my girl the clothes are nice but a bit too complicated. pieces here and there and too colourful for me (tho it suits the character).

Haha the fashion in Full House was hilarious! It seems straight out of a church donation box! I don't know why they would put such ugly cloths on Rain.. what a shame. I live in California, the superficial state, and I have never seen a man wear polka dots, well, no straight men anyways. Looking at what he had to wear in Goong really makes me crack up :lol !

The comments here are so right on target :lol Especially with Full House and Goong. Guess they just have to wear what their sponsors give them?

I totally agree that Sung Yuri had some gorgeous outfits in Snow Queen! She looked very hot and stylish yet elegant at the same time. Her features really brought out the clothes she wore and they matched her character as well. While Hyun Bin didnt dress like a pretty boy like in Kim Sam Soon, his style in here was quite nice though, casual and cool. He looked nice without overdoing it, which matched his character.

A lot of people have been commenting on Snow Queen, so here are pics of outfits i thought were pretty nifty.

Didn't like the drama that much, but Hyun Bin looked pretty fly with his casual chic wardrobe.

More pics from the drama

What's great about SNOW QUEEN is that they didn't make the guys wear overly colorful clothing. It was manly with pale dark colors. It's wearable for the real world.

Didn't like the skunk coat, but loved what the DOCTOR was wearing. I love the camel tan trench jacket with nice loose dark jeans and pitch-black maroon shirt.

the full house clothes are pretty famous for being horrific. and it wasn't just limited to Bi. it was every one in the drama. same goes for goong, though it was limited mainly to Joo Ji Hoon's outfits.

what i think is funny is when they try to develop a style of their own. for instance, in Stained Glass, Lee Dong Gun's ties were all sideways...and in Lovers In Paris, they tried to do that big tie thing. here are a few pictures from the series i mentioned. (i've put them in spoiler tags, b/c they're pretty large. they are not actual spoilers for the series.)

i guess goong is like a playground for the stylists. they were making use of the opportunity to stretch their imagination for male fashion, since these people are not supposed to be "real". hence all the ribbons, poker dots, and wide range of colours. most of the style/colurs are usually considered as faminine.

i also quite like the 70's style clothings on anna in Fantasy Couple. amazing that they can make her look cute in those outfits.

I have to agree, Full House and Goong are some of the worst-dressed dramas ever. For Goong, I remember one episode where JJH seemed to be wearing a white tank top over a suit shirt or a suit jacket or something formal.... can anyone find a screencap of this? It's a laugh. :lol

You mean this...right?
The horizontal black/and white stripped tank with a black suit jacket and freaking grampy white golf pants.

A lot of Full House fashion was pretty horrific as everybody has stated. However, one of my favourite characters for 'best dressed' was Kim Sung Soo playing Yoo Min Hyuk.in Full House. From the moment he first appeared on screen I thought "holy crap! That is exactly my style". I really liked almost everything he wore.

Other than Kim Sung Soo, Full House fashion repulsed me. Especially Bi, and Han Eun Jung, with Han Eun Jung showing off her bra in every single shot.

About the crooked tie, I just watched wedding recently and Jang Nara told the lead guy that the crooked tie style's in and finally the lead guy tried it too.

I've never seen so much cleavage on a guy before. (Bi in Full House).

In Goong what was Ji hoon wearing at the end. It was like some kinda shorts, but way too tight.

This thread is so funny.

about the crooked tie in Stain Glass if I didn't see the recent posts I would have thought "dang the guy doesn't know how to wear a tie" but now I found out that they did it intentionally....how odd

As for fashion I liked Hyun Bin's fashion in MNIKSS and Dal Ja's Spring style looks pretty nice

the crooked tie thing is supposedly one of the new trends in korea.(well that was like in 2005 when i heard of it) i was watching a fashion show on this korean channel, and they were talking about how it was fashionable these days for men, but i still don't get it the point I FOUND IT ANNOYING hehe

But dont you think hair and fashion goes hand in hand?

Perhaps their hair stylist should go back to school...

at nophankh first post:
--hihi.. about the bi in yellow tank and babyblue pants
- I like the yellow tank, it's really sexy BUTT the combination is horrible xD and the pant is just awful
i also didn't like most of the clothes bi was wearing in full house, they were all so 'open'. u can see his chest and i think that's not looking nice on men xD

--about spring waltz
-HAHAHA omgg u are soo true, i even noticed that.. i thought.. why is that girl always wearing green xD
but i liked most of the clothes she was wearing.. it was cute

--about goong
- i liked most of the clothes they both were wearing, it is kind of fashionable..but i don't think i'd like the clothes if a guy at my school wears what joo ji hoon was wearing in goong.. it was just too much and too tight. the dress eun hye was wearing was horrible..i didn't like it at all xD

I love Bora's fashion in Snow queen and Yu Ri's summer clothes in Prince 's First love. Love all, the boots, clothes, earings hehhehehe I   :thumleft: hope I can afford one someday. Besides I like Lee Da Hee's clothes in My Girl too :D  :thumright: , but I don't like actors's hair in Korean drama sometimes. Don't know just feel weird. :-(

I just wanted to gag when I saw it.

no man should wear floral print blazer with white pants.

i never noticed those dress where funny until you emphasized them. because if you will not emphisize it and just look at bi wearing it i think its not bad at all because he can carry any dress nicely(exept for that one dress i saw while he was singing in his concert i guess, i think it was a dress for a girl :P )... i also love song hye kyo both of them look so good together.. love them both

Best: Hyun Bin and Sung Yu Ri's wardrobes in Snow Queen. Most beautiful and tasteful on both leads so far in K-dramas although HB looked like he really needed a good haircut and shave throughout the whole series. The color pallette was more muted for usual K-dramas and blended in with the scenery/mood quite well. Also love Han Ga In's clothes and styles in Witch Yoo Hee. Her haircut matched the tone of the outfits perfectly.

Worst: Mu Ryong in Witch Yoo Hee. What were they thinking? I feel so sorry for Jae Hee... white high tops, those shirts with holes in them and skinny jeans? How about his hair (supposedly done purposely for the role?). I also did not like how the leads were dressed in Goong at all. Too colorful (especially the JJH polka dots tops) and too eccentric/odd for my taste.

fashions

Post by JlovesVan » Jun 24th, '07, 01:23

yep, full house and Goong all the way. My husband and I started counting how many different pokadotted shirts Joo Ji-Hoon wore and how many bow ties he wore LOL. And don't get me started on poor Bi... just when I thought it was the worst he would put on yet another craptastic sweater (green and purple v-necked sweater anyone?)

BUT: I think those fashions just attest to how gorgeous those two boys actually are. How many of us fell in love with the two Ji-Hoon's in those dramas even though THAT is what they were wearing the whole time. Now just imagine if they would have been wearing something ultra sexy...oh dear god I would not have been able to survive those dramas *nose bleed*

In Goong... I loved the drama but... GAH, I just HAD cringe everytime either Shin or Yul would show up with those sickeningly pastel sweaters, or polka dot outfits... They did well for most of ChaeGyung's outfits but there were a few misses as well... I think they needed a better wardrobe person as far as the modern clothes were concerned...

This is a good topic! I saw it and immediately thought what everyone else did.
Fullhouse

This was my very first k-drama and I just remember thinking "is this really the fashion in Korea today?"
White belts and wide bright patterned ties?

My favorite awful Bi outfit was the bondage shirt he wears in the hotel.
But by far, what left my jaw on the floor was Han Eun Jung's pantaloons outfit that she wears at the restaurant when he proposes.
Truly WTF

I honestly LOVED Goong, but some of the stuff that Joo Ji Hoon had to wear still scares me slightly when I watch it. :lol :lol :lol

Here are my two favorite outfits. They both look very good.

I am currently re-watching Full House and I just happened to come upon this thread topic. What you have all said about Bi's fashion is completely true. The overly v-necked shirt in the first episode was ridiculous. I am always disgusted when I see huge v-necks on men in Korean dramas. My sister and I both agree he should have just been topless the whole drama instead.

I like Full house, but every time I saw Rain on screen, I just wanted to gag. Seriously, he didn't wear anything nice or normal in that entire drama.

Just thinking about all those v-neck shirt that he wore...grrr.

I agree with the general comments on Full House. It didn't make sense to me that he was this big star but he was wearing the ugliest clothes known to humankind. What was even weirder is that his crush was his stylist, and seeing as how most of her clothes were really nice, I thought she would have better taste in choosing his outfits. Guess not.

However, I disagree with the Goong comments. I think that yes, some if not most of the outfits Shin had to wear were just like... HAHAH huh?!... he still pulled them off. Maybe I'm biased, but as far as I am concerned, JJH can wear a potato sack and still look damn hot. That's all I'm saying.

I think that Moo Ryong in Witch Amusment wore almost always some weird or just plain ugly clothes. Well in latter episodes he finally had found some decent clothes :D His hairstyle didn't suit him either... I also agree with everyone about Full House. Most of the time Rain wore just incredibly wtf clothes. But didn't the rival girl design them?

Amazingly beautiful clothes were spotted in Lobbyist (by me) :D All clothes Maria wore vere really elegant and mature 8) cool too. Madam Choi too. Very pretty... both clothes and jewellery. Yoo Hee in Witch Amusment wore pretty clothes too. After her stye changed I looked forward seeing her new outfits.
