I don't post much in JDrama discussions. But I can't contain myself after watching HYD 2. Probably I am just a sucker of romantic series. And, probably this is one ending that I will never, never forget. I know it's too grand. But I still love it. And, am sorry to MG fans (taiwanese version). I like MG, but I really fell in love with HYD that includes season 1 also.

Dunno if u guys read this already:
http://www.tbs.co.jp/hanadan2/pmessage2/

In this message, the producer said basically “if Kamio-san and all the cast & crew are confident they can surpass HYD Returns, then we will make season 3. Otherwise we’ll just let HYD Returns be the end.” But in the last line, he does conclude with “See you again!!”

Oh Gosh. I don't even have an opinion on this subject anymore. i don't want one. Just a special, but if they do make another season then I'm sure I will watch it.

I feel the same.. I'd like to see a special but don't really want a whole new season. And yet if a new season comes I'd definitely follow it weekly- even if it was a train wreck!
I guess only time will tell... I wouldn't be surprised if something else comes out though considering the popularity.

^ ^ Wow, HYD ended like a month and a half ago and this thread is still going strong? ~ It just goes to show how popular HYD was ne?

And dramas dubbed... would be weird. I can't imagine watching dramas that have different voiced then the actors.

I'm kinda new to japanese dramas coz i've been like into korean then to taiwanese dramas then i saw hana yori dango.. hands down to the casts as well as the whole production, they made it so well. I watched meteor garden 1 & 2 and i must say, hana yori dango 1 & 2 surpassed that one. The show is just simply great, no dragging moments at all. MG 1 was also great bt the 2nd season wasnt that great bt Hana Yori Dango 2 was just totally good. I enjoyed watching the 2nd season more the 1st one but the 2 are awesome. I just love the soundtrack. I also would like to ask where can i download that instrumental background the one with the violin, electric guitar and if im not mistaken the orchestra one. I just love that one.

Hi!! I bring you all a HYD2 - spanish related curiosity; in the first episode when Rui an Makino are sitting in a park in NY, just before she mets Domyoji, you can see behind them a big grey bus, it is from a spanish company
called ALSA
that was founded near where i live as a small village contact line with the capital. I laughed so hard when i saw it!! OH! and can someone explain to me what kind of school it is where Yuki goes for Tea clases? they teach flamenco too! Jezz as if in spain that were the only typical dance that exists!!

I know I'm in the minority here but I have to say that the Hana Yori Dango dorama overall was one of the worst I've watched, especially season 2. Outside of Mao Inoue's appeal there was very little to enjoy. It just seemed like a series of cliche's collected together in an uncompelling fashion. I never read the mango but the anime was vastly superior to this, even when it began to drag on. I know saying this series is cliched is kind of an oxymoron when talking about dorama's in general but I haven't seen something executed this poorly since Ace wo Nerae which I didn't bother to finish.

Just my 2-cents...I figured I should offer a different opinion just for discussion's sake. To those who enjoyed/loved it, by all means continue to do so, it's all a matter of opinion. For me it just didn't work.

i totally loved the fashion sense, it thought it was phenomenal and very
fashion forward, i liked this plot...
i actually havent seen any dramas of rich guy/poor girl/high school/romance/drama
ive heard of the plots in stories but i actually never saw a drama... with the
exception of Meteor Garden...

to tell the truth its my fav. cliche...

anyways, i rewatched the series from episode 1 in the first season and the
second season and i remembered why i loved it, its so funny, i could watch it
a bajillion times and i cannot get tired of it (i look crazy when i watch it, cus im snickering
in front of the computer...), im gonna rewatch it again...

i really would have liked a HYD3...

Before asking this question look at http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_17098.htm << that forum first, it lists all the subs....and it should be in there.

Tony Takitani
Yeah, you're somewhat in the minority of that opinion, but I do have to agree with the fashion sense of the F4....MAINLY Rui....I love him and all...but what's with the clothes??? Not all the time but just anytime it was long ...especially the long white one below....I saw that and went  lol Soujirou's was fine I thought...so was Akira's...if it wasn't flashy...Tsukasa's was fine most of the time....like anytime he wore something with a colar I thought looked fine....

Whoa, Shota's kinda packing in those trousers! :D

Takitani:

Love the 2046 avatar. Respect to WKW fans everywhere . . .

Oh God No!!! Part of the HanaDan fun is waiting for the next Prince/Michael fashion disaster to come out of Tsukasa's closet. Do you know what it sounds like when doves cry? Now I do, and I also know now it takes about 5 of his gold/aluminum jackets to solar power a small city. This and his Humingway IQ . . . baka baka baka!!!!! Ba! Ka! :D

(though I must say, Jun looks quite dashing in a starchy chef jacket)

I didn't like Rui's hair in the second season, and yeah his clothes kinda made him into, you know, a perfect girl friend for Makino.

And alternately, Makino had huge upgrade in her wardrobe. (Those pant-shorts over stockings are kind of a disaster, but her overall essemble is well executed. NOTHING like the manga! ;) ) Apparently being dirt poor doesn't hamper her weekend jaunts in Shibuya. I guess that's okay, females aren't allowed to eat in Japan anyway.

Was anyone else laughing their @$$ off at the beginning of season 2 when the group of black thugs assault Makino? Not only was it patently stereotypical but they were very liberal in the swearing. I knew things would be downhill from there. I also like how they completely went away from the fact that the F4 had moved on to college. Seriously, they never went to class and just hung out all day, every day without even an attempt or mention of their studies past like episode 2 or 3. And those are just some minor gripes I have with the show LOL! I won't even touch the fashion in the show...

belleza~~~ bwahahahaha! oh my gosh, u got me laughing with ur last line :lol

as for the topic of fashion in hanadan...well...tsukasa's attire never did sit well with me. and that suit he wore during the wedding proposal! oh my gosh! it almost looked like he was dressed for a concert with arashi

the only person who seemed to have decent fashion sense in this drama (aside from tsukushi) was yuki...thank God for her...

wahaha! i guess for me hanadan was about being flashy and over the top so i guess their fashion also made sense in a way! although yeah i'm always looking forward to tsukasa appearing in very flashy attire! like his space jacket haha! and the gold suit! XD gives me a good laugh! but hey he did look good in suits!

i liked rui's sense of fashion though haha! :roll very dreamy!

and tsukushi yep her clothes weren't that bad but mostly we see her in her school uniform!

:lol

i liked sojiroh's outfits too! the vests! erm.. akira... no comment. but hey it suits him haha!

and like Superkyle said: hanadan is also my favorite cliche of all cliches hehe!

LMAO.
I'm black and I live in a far worst place then NY and been to NY many times and that has never happened to me or have I seen it happened, but sadly I laughed at the part so much. Such a bad sterotype along with the group of white guys who act as Domyouji's guards or whatnot. LOL. You're right about the school thing as well. I noticed it but never paid attention to it. XD They have no lives.

i was honestly annoyed with what Tony Takitani wrote before... coz he totally trashed the Hana Yori Dango plot. but then i have to admit he was right at some terms. lolz... the fact that it was a "cliche" and it was all about "fashion sense" but the fashion sense was what made me smile. there were several people in the series who really wore good clothes. like tsubaki, i really like the way she wore her clothes and rui, even though it was off he could still wear it well.

about hana yori dango being dubbed here in the Philippines...i also didnt like it i mean i love jun and everyone's own voice they should have just subbed it..but that aside i was glad that Hanadan here in the Phil has high ratings. Last time i checked it reached 20% or above. Let me explain to you guys, hanadan is shown weekdays in the afternoon which means having 13% above is great for an afternoon show because here in the phil the primetime shows reaches about 30% because of course its primetime a lot of people will be able to watch at night than in the afternoon. And i can say that hanadan reached the highest rating jdorama ever shown in the Philippines

@Neptune222 thanks! got it already.. :D

yeah, about the hana yori dango here in the phils, i really hate it being dubbed. i think all drama series should not be dubbed because it will loose its true emotions esp with the characters.. It sounds so dull and sometimes the translations are not that accurate.. :x Esp.. if they translate the songs into tagalog version.. i really hate it!!

Could HanaDan be the next Full House? ;)
coz he totally trashed the Hana Yori Dango plot. but then i have to admit he was right at some terms.
Hana Yori Dango in general is special to me, so I can't pretend to be objective about the show. It's like watching an adaptation of Pride and Prejudice; you bring all this extra baggage into the story, all of the other adaptations of the basic story. The way Makino is in denial of Doumyouji and her own preconceptions of society, the way Doumyoiji loves like a beast and a child.

Most hardcore HYD fans gloss over the story itself, because in our eyes, the story is merely the battlefield between these two people. But, then again, most HYD fans also review the story with a fine-toothed comb because itstory also should reveal these two characters as we know them. The story doesn't need to make literal sense; it doesn't even have to be entirely tasteful, but it must connect our previous HYD memories together and validate what we've always known about Doumyouji and Makino. If the story didn't do that; if it was air-tight yet not true to these two, it would an entertaining fraud.

We don't ask whether Matsumoto Jun is "good" or Inoue Mao is "good" or Oguri Shun is "good." We ask among ourselves -- is he Doumyouji, is she Makino, is Shun really smiling like Rui would? HanaDan ,especially the 2nd season, was a vicarious experience. That is, it spoke for not only the original manga, movie, Meteor Garden, and the New York ending. It spoke on behalf of the fans. The fans weren't always pleased. What kept Makino and Doumyoji apart for so long in season 2? What was left of the Rain Scene? Why the amnesia arc, why oh why?

But, then, the writers ultimately wrote for us and hoped that there would be enough vacuum from the collective sighs of HanaGarden fans to pull in everybody else . The first season seemed to make short shrift of the Saturn necklace. The Saturn necklage became the common thread of the second season. The first season ending improved on the New York City ending . The 2nd season ending was the best ending of all, and an extended thank you to both the fans and JunMao itself.

Maybe what I'm trying to say is that, at some point, HanaDan became a circus. The producers put the tent up 2 years back, and we all kinda went nuts. It was like meeting old friends again, changed and still the same, and then getting our final wish, our final closure.

I have no idea if HanaDan was/is "good"; I just know it's closer to my heart than almost any other thing I've enjoyed, and I enjoyed it a lot.

That said, yeah, water guns ain't gangsta, Rui. You try that in my hood and we'll stomp you foo! :D

Some other random notes. Did you know . . .
1) After HanaDan, she played Nanako's daughter in Grave of the Fireflies? Uhm, well, I guess everybody knew that. But that's probably why HYD2 started off with the two matched up again. Okay I'll try harder. Did you know . . .

2) Prior to the first HanaDan (in fact, the same year), Inoue Mao guest-starred as a patient on a medical show for 4 episode with Dr. Oguri Shun and Dr. Matsuhima Nanako? Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 3 (24 Hours Emergency Ward 3.) So, ugh, that whole scene where Rui dozes off with Makino at the hospital is irony, no? Rui plays doctor and treats Makino? Squee x HYD2

3) The current MatsuJun show, Bambino, also stars Uchida Yuki, who played Makino in the original HYD movie? So, you know, just in case something happened between Chef Baka and the hostess, well ugh he's staying true to "Makino."

4) Naojiti Fujiki, starring in Proposal Daisakusen as well as the doctor from 1 Litre, played Rui in that same movie. Well if they wanna redo Mars casting Mao against Fujiki, fine by me . . .

5) Shota Matsuda and Inoue Mao were in a show together way back when.

I'd just like to ask where can I download the HYD 2 OST. I already got the HYD OST but if there is the OST for the second season, i would really want to have a copy of it. I've been searching for that electric guitar with the violin and orchestra thing the one played in the last ep. when Makino rushed for her graduation and then Domyouji's mom came out of nowhere that instrumental thing.. Thanks in advance!! love HYD!!! :roll

And I'm glad people notced that F4 is just hanging around all day and not even going to college haha ...But I still have to say, abide the stereotype, cliché, over the top-stuff.. This is my favorite drama (I just finished it : D) It's so much fun to watch!!

And I was wondering about the OST too, could someone help?

Anyone? seed please? I'm downloading that one cause I can't stand mega upload...
by the way... I don't know if anyone has heard this:

From jLand.
In TBS Radio, Satake-san (the screenwriter for HYD) announced that there will be something more, but it won’t be on TV.
Which means… it’ll probably be a movie? ^_~
big news people! come on!

and speaking of rumors:
Before HYD2.. one year ago..
Started a rumor.. People were saying that in some famous japanese forum.. some girl who always say things that become true ( people say that is daughter of some executive at TBS)
Said “Will have a second season in the begin of 2007.. and after will have a movie at summer/autumn of 2007..
So maybe is really true… \o/~~

I hope it does come true I would not mind seeing a movie of HYD3 only if Doumyouji & Makino wedding is shown. If the movie is about them breaking up again then I'll avoid watching it.

I think it would be interesting if they did a movie, though like many, I'm nervous about the idea.

There might be a clue in the series, though, to point to what the movie could be about. I'm thinking of the first episode of HYD2. Specifically, Oribe threatens to "return." I could easily see him reinventing himself and returning to ruin the happiness of our favorite couple.

I think that there have rumors of a movie. Supposedly, someone who early on broke the then rumor of a HYD2 is now saying that there are plans for a part 3, but a movie version. Here's a reference to said rumor: http://ritzcracker.wordpress.com/2007/05/15/hyd-movie/ I've looked at the site run by the girl "Lily" mentioned in that post; I remember reading the comment on her site, but am having some problems finding it now. Also, I seem to think that in past posts on this thread people discussed a movie. But at this point, things are very much at the rumor stage, and given how busy the original cast's schedule is, it's hard to imagine anything in the works right now.

Having said that, I did notice in rewatching HYD2 a few days ago that the writers left open some room for a continuing story. Oribe very clearly says that he will "be back." Since most of Tsukasa and Tsukushi's other enemies seem to have fallen by the wayside, this pretty much only leaves Oribe out there, still plotting in his creepy yet fashionable way.

So, I'm just speculating that were the writers to pick the story up again, this would be one way they could go.

Gotta say I LOVE THIS DRAMA!!
I have always been a fan of Hana Yori Dango anime and manga...

I didn't like season 1 that much, so was quite skeptical about season 2, but man!!!
season 2 totally rocks!!!
erm... I don't like matsumoto Jun honestly... watched many of his drama recommended by friends but still don't like him and thought that I will not change my perception about him.. but!!!!
Finally!!! I like him now!!! its all because of HYD season 2!!! he is so cute here and his eyes seems to be able to 'talk'!! haha... his acting has improved alot in season 2 than in season 1, well, maybe not improved? maybe its just that he got into the character even more? nonetheless, I applause for him in this series. And I like Shun (sorrry if wrong spelling), the one playing as RUI better in season 2 as well... have always like him but feel that he is abit out of character in season 1 thus not so into him... but in season 2, he has finally become the real RUI, the quiet and cool type... love him!!
love him the way he ignores Umi... so cool~~~~
I love Tsukushi as well, she did very well in both seasons...
and I thought she did extremely well in the last episode where she cries... OMG.. those tears!! made my tears fell as well.... that scene really touches my heart.. my favourite scene... hehe... <3

thanks guys for the OST, I have been searching for the instrumental song which was played in the final episode, around 4:50 where Tsukushi's tears flow like crazy due to Umi... >_<
I really love the song... but couldn't find it in OST.. or maybe I missed it?
Can someone let me know which tracks?
or do you happen to have it?
can please share it with me????
if yes, please upload it... (no megaupload or sendspace... because I can't download there... which is weird... T_T)

Thank you very much!!! in advance... hehe...

I love Hana Yori Dango, and I love the actors; I wouldn't say no to another season, unless it disrupts the manga.

Yes, I do love this Dorama..I could watch it 1000 times and do not get sick of it. Oguri Shun is the most charming and sexiest guy, he knows exactly how to handle his role, MatsuJun plays the role of the rebel perfectly and Mao Inoue ist just a unique and great actress. The 1st season was awesome and this one becomes even better! You can expect a lot of surprises and new characters ! MUST WATCH IT! :lol

i have the orchestra version. you could pm me so i could send the file through ym.

im also currently watching bambino. sad to say, it does not appeal me that much as HYD. of course i couldn't exactly compare HYD to Bambino because of the different story lines. but it just ticks me off that Jun Matsumoto's character in bambino is off than his usual characters in his other drama. but since Jun is in it.. what the heck! i will still watch it nevertheless.

if you guys are familiar with Matsuda Shota he was the hottie Nishikado Sojiro in HYD...
he has his own lead series in LIAR GAME. its mind twisting series.. and the story gets better and better with each episode ;)
