Abe Hiroshi

Post by kao-chin » Oct 6th, '06, 22:05

I have just discovered Hiroshi Abe in the Drama Dragonzakura !!! After this i sought all movies in which he played.
I really like this great actor for his way of playing, he's funny ,when he plays a timid guy he's so handsome  He's a charismatic actor
In fact i had a lot of laugh when i saw Kekkon Dekinai Otoko !!!
I also also looked at Egao no hosoku and i spent a good moment !
Now i'm looking at Wedding planner and i hope to enjoy this movie too !!!

Thank you for the latest news.
I'm looking forward to see him in other roles.
Cancer? It's OK

I've known that TRICK the movie will be sold in this December.
Have anyone known the detail of this movie?

I like TRICK, Kekkon dekinai otoko, Dragon zakura, Antique (as Kage).
He recently becomes my favorite actor.

It could have been the start of a new romance that would have spread thru the japanese newspapers like a french/japanese "Notting hill"... what a waste!

On another hand, I'm not sure "coup de foudre à Villefranche" is a good title...

Kao-chin, you can find Survive Style 5 on isohunt. Very entertaining, with great sets and costumes. Abe plays the muscle-bound hypnotist who suffers from premature ejaculation... among other things. Of course, it has Tadanobu Asano too.

Just looked at Abe's IMDB
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0008346/
and was amused to find that he is also listed as a banjo-player for Metoroporisu and an assistant sound recordist for Gohatto. Whatta guy.

He's like a Japanese John Cleese.

His size and height notwithstanding, he's great at physical comedy. His boggly eyes were what stood out in Antique Cake House, and in Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, his various body movements seem to be led by his ass.

Abe is my favourite Japanese actor after KDO! He is the BEST!

I read from Hiroshi wiki page and find out that he was in a show after KDO, it is called Haruka naru Yakusoku. It was aired in Japan on the 24th Nov. I was wondering has anyone watch it??? Has anyone recorded it? Will anyone upload it?

Thank you!!!

His best act was in KDO for sure... I didnt like him in Dragon Zakura very much because of his show off-lawyer style : /
Anyway, the best actor ever :salut:

Wow, an Abe Hiroshi thread! Cool!

I saw Abe Hiroshi first on Yoshitsune but didn't take notice of his handsome features until I saw him on Dragon Zakura. He was pretty sexy in Dragon Zakura. I'm not even into men with facial hair but I really liked how he looked in that drama. Like the thread starter, I began to hunt for all his shows. I plan to watch Kekkon Dekinai Otoko soon and I'm happy to hear that it's an enjoyable show to watch. I've seen him on Hero with Kimura Takuya and My Little Chef although I didn't care for the latter show that much. I think he's so funny when he does comedy; definitely a charming man. Sadly, I can't find much information on his personal life. I know he's about 42 years old and I don't know if he's married or not.

I thought he was pretty awesome in My Little Chef, but the series was complimented pretty well by the cast sans young male actors. In my opinion, he was the best actor in that series. His acting is awesome because he gives off an air of being a badass without trying.

In my opinion Abe is at his best in Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. I really enjoyed watching that one. It was very entertaining. His character reminds me of Jack Nicholson in As Good As It Gets and Hugh Laurie in House M.D.

Date: 25 November, 9.00 pm
Station: Fuji TV
Cast: Abe Hiroshi, Kuroki Hitomi, Hirosue Ryoko, Konno Mahiru, Sasaki Kuranosuke
Synopsis: Haruka Naru Yakusoku is about the love between a man (Abe Hiroshi) and woman (Kuroki Hitomi) torn apart by the Japan-Russo War.

The interpretation of this character by Abe Hiroshi is very touching… one attends moments really poignant about a man at the paroxysm of the suffering due to the exile and separation from the woman he loves

Oi, I absolutely love this actor. I went on a trip to Japan in November, and on the plane ride back they were showing the Trick 2 movie--which is how I got interested in Trick . . . then Hiroshi Abe and now the vast universe of japanese dramas! (A nice little chain reaction, no?--Though I hope to even further span my search.) :D

But, as of now, Hiroshi Abe is still one of my most favorite actors. He truly is amazing at what he does, since he can do it all. With his . . . interesting . . . expressions, excellent comedic timing and even all those hard-hitting dramatic points, he can do a lot, can't he? :lol

As of now, I've seen him in Trick, DragonZakura, Kekkon Dekinai Otoko and most of Egao No Hosoku (I havent been able to finish it yet.). I hope to see more dramas and movies with him in them, but it's quite hard for me to acquire all that I want to see . . . And from what I hear about other series, just makes me want to see them all the more)

Anyone can have a different point of view!!! that is why our discusions can be interesting :lol :lol :lol As an actor , the most important thing, is to have the best way of playing in order to move the spectators , to make them feel the feelings of the character...On the other hand , the matter of being good looking or not is something to leave with the appreciation of each one (i think that the physical appearance is not the most important part of the human in general ,whereas the way of being is sizeable.)

"CHOCOLATE"
(Thai movie)Opening in May, 2007 to the public

Directed by
Prachya Pinkaew
Genre: Action, drama

So what has the director of ONG BAK and THE PROTECTOR, Prachya Pinkaew, been up to? CHOCOLATE. With choreography by Panna Rittikrai (ONG BAK, BORN TO FIGHT), CHOCOLATE is a female centric action movie that's sort of like a homeless LA FEMME NIKITA meets ONG BAK.This feminine version of Ong-Bak will be played by the young actress Yanin Mitanan and it has Hiroshi Abe    equally in the allotment

The story: A yakuza thug sires a daughter with his Thai wife, herself the ringleader of a mafia clan. After dad returns to Japan, the teenage daughter witnesses her mum being beaten to pulp by a rival gang who refuse to pay off their debts. So the girl - an autistic, chocoholic who possesses formidable kickboxing prowess - sets out to collect the bills from those baddies who owe her poor mother.
When mom gets cancer the kid picks up her mom's diary containing a list of people who owe her money and, one by one, she tracks them down and kicks their butts until they cough up the cash so she can pay her mom's medical bills. But most of the debtors belong to a group known as No. 8 and their membership includes some powerful politicians who decide that this spin-kicking teen has the potential to make them look bad so they decide to kill her.

The punch:Prachya Pinkaew, director of Ong-bak and Tom-Yum-Goong, wrote the script specifically for Nicharee Wimistanant, a 23-year-old martial arts talent who had received hard-core training from stunt maestro Panna Rittikrai for three full years before the shoot. The film has attracted the interest of European and American distributors since it was announced - and before the production had actually started - in Cannes last May. With Chocolate, Prachya will need to give his audience a real kick after the disastrous Tom-Yum-Goong took some lustre from his shine.

This actor is so wild, and I think that his best performance so far was in the Trick series. I think that he really deserves some international recognition.

Hiroshi Abe to star in new Koreeda film
Wed, August 8, 2007 (6:11am EDT)
It was revealed on Tuesday that director Hirokazu Koreeda's next film is a comical family drama titled "Aruitemo Aruitemo."

Heading up the cast is Hiroshi Abe, known for his frequent roles as unusual characters. This time, he plays the part of a good-for-nothing man who fails to follow in his father's footsteps in medicine. He keeps his distance from his parents, leading a currently unemployed life with his soon-to-be wife, who already has a child. The story unfolds when he reluctantly returns home for the death anniversary of his older brother.

Also appearing are Kirin Kiki, Yoshio Harada, Yui Natsukawa, YOU, and Susumu Terajima. Filming is currently in progress. The movie opens next year.

I find Abe Hiroshi looks like Toshiro Mifune... same kind of powerful man, tall, and sarcastic sense of humour...

Toshiro Mifune was Akira Kurosawa's fetish actor and maybe one of the greatest in the history of Japanese cinema. I still can't get his performance in The Seven Samurais out of my head....

If you can put aside the facts that this movie last for more than 3 hours, that it's in black and white and that it dates back from 1954, I'm sure you'll like it. (personally speaking, it's one of the rare few movies that I've watched more than 10 times).
Back to topic: sorry but I can't see any similarities between Toshirô Mifune and Hiroshi Abe.

haha yes i get the same vibe from those 2, mostly because they both kind of scare me, but I also find them oddly hot.

I agree, his Ueda in the Trick series was a standout performance. Because of that I started noticing him in his supporting roles -- Wedding Planner, Hero and even in the movie Tokyo Raiders. I liked him in Dragon Zakura... it was more realistic than other dramas of the same genre. :-)

Abe performed a scary role in "My lover is a sniper". His character was so cold and threatening in this movie ...
And I thought that i never saw him playing this kind of role ; he was completely different from the usual roles he performed... He was so convincing , he performed this character so well that i was scared and disconcerted !!!
As I always thought, he really can play any kind of personage, with the realism that it requires.
Without a doubt he is an excellent and talented actor that we don't have nowadays any more.

@ kao-chin -- Ooh thanks for the movie tip. I should go check that out. I think Abe has range, I have no doubt he can play any kind of role convincingly. And there's something about him that gives off that "cool-danger vibe" which allows him to play an antagonist/antihero. Like toshiro mifune, he has this intensity (like-you're-before-a-serious-actor type of intensity). That's why I really find it amusing when he does comedy. :D

I can't say I have a favorite because I always enjoy his performances but I liked him as Ueda in Trick and the title character in Kekkon Dekinai Otoko (heavy on the sarcasm and deadpan delivery of punchlines). :D

Newsflash: the swinging bachelor Abe's getting married!

http://www.tokyograph.com/news/id-2103
http://sankei.jp.msn.com/entertainments ... 012-n1.htm

The fax to the media essentially says that he will be marrying a 28-year-old former OL, that he started dating her officially about one and a half years back [hmm, not long before Kekkon Dekinai Otoko], and considered marriage about half a year ago. As she's not in show business, he won't be releasing her name or picture. He also talks about how they are now living together in an apartment in Shibuya, how she understands and supports him, and how they plan to create a cheerful and comfortable family together.

Good for him!

OMEDETOU ABE-SAN!!!

wow. Lucky former OL. Office ladies in Japan have chances of getting hitched with hot actors. You kinda can come up with interesting drama plot on how a well known KAKKOI idol falling in love with OL. It'll make a great love story.

*i'm going to go cry at the corner of my office now..*

yeah, I remembered that drama. Too bad i'm too lazy to download it :P Kinda reminds me of Nothing Hill right.
NOW, GIVE THE OLs SOME MORE LOVE! I want a love story on idol+OL.. I can even name a few real live couples, Katori Shingo and his long time OL girlfriend (I hope they are still going strong.. or are they?), Tsukamoto Takashi now happily married to his OL, and Nakai used to live with an OL.

oh btw, can't wait to see Abe playing Mifune's role in The Hidden Fortress.

Abe Hiroshi Engaged!!

Post by hysteric_blue » Nov 22nd, '07, 13:25

Abe Hiroshi is finally getting married. Ironically, last summer he acted in a drama as we all know "the guy who can't get married".

http://jp.video.msn.com/v/ja-jp/v.htm?g ... howbiz&fg=

He held a press conference at TV Asahi. His fiancee is 15 years younger and not in show business.

Congrats Abe.

It is pretty crazy but I prefer Abe san playing comedy roles. This is a movie you can really enjoy if you are OK with a certain amount of absurdity - it will definitelly make your day brighter :D
