To bobodybob, best way I found to get back to be creative was to think outside the box on the drawing tool etc o to change my envinoment. ifI couldn't draw with pencil on paper I would change to others like, now my mind has gone blank..... twig and the ground.
An idea that really helped me was o carry an art pad abd biro and just do doodles, I was doing them whilst watching tv, on bus journey it really help to feel my mind.

Lol, making me laugh again sahansah
Im afraid not, nothing makes me want to draw atm, whenever i have a pen or a pencil in my hands its for work work work, never for sketching. I cant seem to will myself to draw. I am just lost, and i feel really depressed with the fact that I cannot draw, or make any art.
I dont even think in terms of fan art atm, I seem to constantly think in tetris blocks... It sucks. (although I am a tetris addict)

well try what freezspirit suggested
And if that don't wrk how bout stop playing freakin' tetris and start playin' with crayons...always go back to basics so go out and buy a colouring book...and CAREFULLY making sure you don't go over the lines colour in the picturess....then you can move on to drawing blob figures, then stick figures after which the world is your oyster

YAY... Actually I have a colouring book somewhere, cause a few years back i was obsessed with those colouring books tht were just squares with patterns in that you could colour any way you like..
I kinda need to magick 3 A5 drawings out of nowhere for tomorrow >.<So I can post my overseas cards. My only problem being I cant seem to pick up a pencil, and not to mention IM ADDICTED TO TETRIS *sobs* Its sooo addictive

Yep I donit know what it is with that game but every1 goes thru an ADDICTED TO TETRIS fraze.
A sort of link with xmas card idea - tretris tree!
if you get stuff when using pen/cil and paper why not try a different media, photography, 3d sculptures. Oh once I got really stuck so I filled water balloons and pistols with paint and just had fun on large boards ok its an extreme but it worked.
Thinking back when I was about 10 I actually broke my gameboy playing the game so much!

Oh I remembered another thing, once I had a sort of mental block cos I could draw on a blank sheet of paper - it was that crisp white that put me off so so I just splashed some colour and I was back drawing or the other thing I used to d was draw on tracing paper and actate sheets that I stuck on the window it meant I wasn't looking down and if I got bored I could see thru outside.

LotR Meh I've seen better give me Harold and Kumar any day now thats a journey of epic proportionsbobodybob wrote:Lol.... im rewatching lord of the rings...cause ive seen it soo many times its alright to fall asleep watching.
So did ya get the drawings done? or still trying to do 'em....you've gotta smash through the wall like that Fat guy did in Run Fatboy Run ..
freezspirit So are you also an artist? Cool two artists....you guys should collaborate....and when one of you hits a block..well thats your game over, give the other person a chance with Tetris......
Hey Fenki nice to see more Brits "coming out" as it were.......
Lol. I didnt get the drawings done, Im planning on doing them today after my best mate has left... or whilst shes here, If shes busy coding. We get together with our laptops and computers and work on stuff whilst socialising >.> If you can call it that.
Ive seen LOTR sooo many times I am allowed to fall asleep watching it, likewise with the matrix.

oooo your mate is a coder eh?
Yeah socialising is so overrated anyways...In the future we are all going to be plugged into a virtual world so I guess you're half way there
ha-ha actually you're not allowed to fall asleep whilst watching it, the Matrix or LotR if you do well it's a £100 on the spot fine...new labour law in trying to keep the workforce awake at all hours....
Sketches finished? Or are your m8's going to be disappointed when they recieve a blank piece of paper through post....I don't mind a blank piece of paper the best art is always bare...

wujou_mao Kimura Takuya hmmmm now that u mention it ....anyways I think he has smiled on the odd occasions but acting is not all bout smiling and from wot I heard about a million stars from from the sky it doesn't seem to be a dorama in which u would smile about[/quote]
true, but maybe its his character which i dislike. its still a good drama tho

Sleep is good its essential in fact and if you can sleep draw then Grrreeeat ...you're sorted but if you can't then best to quit on the sleeping and getting back to the drawing board....Like Yamapi doesn't like slackers...it's what I heard he doesn't like people who don't want to draw when they should be drawing and instead sleeping and use going to the opticians as an excuse...he also dislikes liars and people who make up false stories using his name to motivate people but I don't give a de-amn...
wujou_mao His character in the dorama or in real life? I don't know much bout his personal life but he seems a decent fellow but in the dorama his character seems shady so it should be a good dorama once I can get round to watching it

Happy New Year everyone. I'm actually from Germany, but I thought I should also drop a line here as well. So here it is: ___________________ ... just joking.
Actually I wanted to let you know that there is an online Petition to get DAE JANG GEUM on BBC. There are some Trailers on YouTube (the Link for the Petition can be found there as well):
>> Show DJG on BBC campaign - Trailer <<
Maybe you know about that already, but if not, maybe you want to sign it as well.

Onkel Heini I don't watch K-doramas sadly and I agree with Mrs-Nishikado there would be noway the Beeb would show a K-dorama it would be a slap in the face to the public's money and I don't think many would appreciate the beeb buying the rights to a korean dorama when there is a dwarf of traditional British dramas shown on the Beeb....sadly that is the case though never say never if by any chance the beeb did then it would prob be shown at night past midnight maybe on BBC2 or BBC4....and by any means the Beeb is the least likely of all the public broadcasters to show a completely foreign drama...I'd say channel 4 maybe but it has more chance on a vague cable/satellite digital channel.......
Another thing no demand for it...its the same with Anime there is an anime channel I think on Sky though and another point the majority of ethnic minorities in this country are not Korean or oriental for that matter...I think the largest is the South Asian minority which has had some sort of impact on British life, so we do see occasional shows dedicated to them and channel 4 has a habit of showing Bollywood movies late at nights once in a while.....

Well you never know, just look at the Beeb in the seventies, where did they turn when they ran out of ideas for shows? Japan, dubbing Monkey and The Water Margin which were both met by critical and commercial sucsess, I can't really see it happening if I'm honest but I don't think its too much of a stretch, I'm pretty sure BBC4 showed a tv series recently which wasn't in english (can't for the life of me remember what it was but oh well).
Really? never knew that but nowadays its going to be less likely I guess for asian dramas to be shown on the Beeb yeah BBC4 do show different type of programmes maybe if tey are having say a Asian week or something they might just do?
However if dubs the way to go then I won't watch it....Dubs suck big

i stumled upon that site about that girl who wanted to bring Dae jang guem to our shores, but was poorly turned down, even by ITV. its true, uk is heavily multi cultural, but the indians love indian films, the chinese love chinese films and the white love crap like eastenders and corrie.sahansah wrote:Really? never knew that but nowadays its going to be less likely I guess for asian dramas to be shown on the Beeb yeah BBC4 do show different type of programmes maybe if tey are having say a Asian week or something they might just do?

its just a small selection of white brits who like to broaden our horizons and go for something knew. can you really see a heap load of brits reading subtitles. if it was dubbed into english, i wouldnt watch it either.
basically england isnt interested. i asked about this at work [i'm a scaffolder] and the lads laughed at were quite racist saying they wouldnt want to watch chinese crap. [and i was talking about korean drama ]
i urge you to watch jewel in the palace [Dae jangguem]. its wonderful. or go to korea and see the dae jangguem theme park
^ lol ....its a sad fate I'm afraid ....I love Eastenders but I haven't seen it in some time now ....it would probably be the same the world over how many Aemricans would want to watch Asian doramas? Though I'm not sure but are American (less chance of Birtish dramas/shows) shown in Asia?
Well at the moment I'm focusing on J-dorama's I mean it just a natural progression after watching Anime I guess, I've heard about some Korean and Chinese Dorama's which seem interesting I guess I'll have a look at them in due time
There should be a proper asian dorama channel on Sky or something which shows subbed episodes but I don't think theres enough interest (especially so for subbed).....if the amount of posters in this thread is an indicator
On another note how come we don't see any Korean/Chinese/Japanese channels proper on Sky...I think there may be one or two Chinese channels but don't think there are like entertainment channels ~ It would be cool if there was even if its in a language I can't understand...
There is an Anime channel which I'm pleased about but I don't watch it its dubbed
Though its nice that the beeb shows chinese movies....well most are dubbed but BBC4 has shown Asian movies subbed which was cool...... .alas my movie fix has to come from downloading...so sad
I would love to visit Asia in the future at some point......and when I do I'll definately give the Dae Jang Geum theme park a see

Yup, I'd love to see a drama channel too but realistically I just don't think theres enough demand for it, but i think its certainly going in the right direction, a few years ago we wouldn't have had barely any anime on tv but now we have a channel dedicated to it, blocks of anime on other channels and even channel 4 occasionally showing the odd ghibli movie so its not as bad as it used to be I don't think. But I think if any channel were to show an asian drama it'd be a bad idea to start off with such a long show, I think a J-drama would be much easier to bring new viewers into the camp, especially money-wise aswell, i doubt the beeb or any channel for that matter would take a chance by buying an 80 episode show that has extremely niché appeal. Its a nice idea to be campaigning and such but I think its ultimately just a waste of time unfortunately.

All sorts, but i think it only runs from like 9pm till 6am
I think they show stuff like FMA, Gundam Seed, Bleach and other stuff. All fairly new stuff I think.

Theres nothing wrong with Channel 4 showing the odd bollywood moive, nothing at all because Bollywood rocks and kicks a lot of ass and is full of ridiculous entertainment which because I'm biased beats any J-dorama I've ever seen emotion wise then again I'm comparing chalk and cheese
Well Johanthan Ross is a big Japanophile but he's just fascinated probably by the weirdness and Anime/Movies of Japan then its doramas
Who knows oneday they some channel might just stick on an Asian drama in the obscure part of the night perhaps...although it has to be something critical acclaimed or something which many J-dramas are not
Hey juppie what part of England have you moved to? And lol I don't think you should have put your actual address into your location....not unless Im wrong and its the address to say Johnny's Entertainment or some Actor/Idol in which case ignore what I said

hi bob! I wish to go to MUSE's concert some time. By the way, nice picture of yamashita-san! Do u like him? I enjoy watching his dramas very much, they're amusing ^^
thank you sahansah, the tesco in sunderland is very small and a little messy (^^;; i dont like it much to be honest, but i dont know where else to go to buy groceries(?) (>_<
weather here is just good for me ^^) but i hate the strong wind (/_\) i bought 2 umbrellas and they are now broken (T^T) snow was very thick when i was in toyama, and lots of bears roamed around in my hometown. so it was dangerous for children to go out and play. when i got to malaysia, weather was very HOT!! i was always complaining bout the weather (ー.ー")

@ Sahansah - I didnt finish the sketches. >.> I'll do them after my Alevel exams this week. Same with your mao drawing
@juppie - Thanks, I draw fan art in my spare time. Yamashita-san's dramas are always good, so of course I watch them If you ever come down my end of the country, say hi . Personally I prefer Sainsbury's to Tesco and Asda, failing that I go to waitrose.
I don't mind English weather too much either because it varies greatly, and as I'm not too good with hot weather its fine by me.

i miss asian food in general. we brits like other food, but its more european in style to fit with our taste buds. if i buy a ready made Thai curry sauce, that says firery hot, its not, and i have to make it hotter by adding 12 chill's and other spices just to get that really hot flavour i experianced out in thailand while i was there.juppie wrote:I was born n raised in toyama, jpn till the age of 9, and then my family moved tokuala lumpur, malaysia.

again, malay/indian food is super nice [not to keen on chinese though. and never had japanese so i can't comment on that]
If you're ever in London, try scooting over to W1 and look up a little place in front of the Swedish Church called "Dinings".wujou_mao wrote:juppie wrote: and never had japanese so i can't comment on that]
It's a Japanese style tapas bar with sushi counter inside the small entrance.
The guy who runs the place used to run a Japanese restaurant in France for some time and their really nice.
There is another really good place off of Baker Street tube station that I cannot recall the name of that's really worthy a visit. When you go off Baker Street, around the corner up towards Regents Park, on your left there is a tiny sign pointing into a little passage in the building just after Pizza Hut.
You wouldnt think there is a full fledged Japanese restaurant in there of the size you find when you enter. They do rent out rooms for special arrangement dinners too.
bobodybob ~ lol It doesn't really matter about the Mao drawing I don't wanna force it and good luck on your A-levels!...luck? Who needs luck answers are needed that what that to correct ones
juppie Bears used to roam Britain I believe now they are all but extinct...So you had it Hot and cold makes sense for you to like the British Weather....I too don't like the strong wind it messes up my very beautiful sparkle in the sun hair....Okay my hair doesn't sparkle in the sun but the wind always messes up the do
~ and the Tesco's here is quite nice really....everything under one store the old Tesco's here was bad....

bob-san, all the best in your exams, ganbatte kudasai! \(^\)(/^)/\(^\)(/^)/
i took alvls a few years ago, it was hard for me ===((((( x_x)_
i like malaysian/indian/thai food too! but sometimes it's too spicy for me ☆⌒(>。≪) if u have the chance, please try japanese curry, it's not spicy but the curry taste is quite strong ^^) i like it because i'm not good with spicy food. (⌒▽⌒) chinese food is quite similar to japanese, but chinese prefers salty food, japanese much prefers sweet food ^^)
if you like raw food, you'll like japanese food ( ̄ー ̄)
haha, sahansah, i understand your feeling ( ̄▽ ̄) it's very hard for girls with long hair to walk in strong wind too (´o`)

lol ~ I love Spicy food the spicy the better!!!! ~ Although I'm trying to cut on the amount of spicy food I eat...Indian food is great but donner meat? LOL bunch of crap if you ask me I love kebab but not Donner kebab its made from all the reject meat
My bro likes Japanese food I've never tried it I don't even no if theres a Japanese restaurant in my area then again I haven't actively sought one though I really want to try out sushi but I suck with Chopsticks my bro was trying to teach me but I just can't get the hang of it
A-levels like all exams are getting easier by the year I have no faith in the British Education system it was way better in the 60's when education was of a higher standard.....Alot needs to be done to improve education in this country because kids are getting dumber and dumber, fater and dumber with their slang and chav culture...seriously we are lagging behind all the other developed countries in the subjects that matter.....I fear for the future of this country
bobodybob Well hope your exam goes well today ! ~ and the best way to beat the Brit Wind is to wear a hat

lol well its full of fat he-he I may be exagerating a bit but yeah its very unhealthy but then again so is alot of Indian food, except most of the vegetable dishes...makes sense why is the heart attack rate in south asians so high? Another thing Indian food is addictive because of the spices I think it was in some show can't remember it fully ~ but still you can't beat indian food
LOL he-he are you being sarcastic? it is hard for me although I've only used chopsticks once or twice and so haven't really practiced with them or anything. Chopsticks are cool I use them as weapons whenever I go into a big fight. Concealed under my sleeves being made out of plastic/wood they arn't detected by the metal detectors which is nice and if anyone discovers them I just merely say its how they are carried in the east...and noone's the wiser...attack points, ears, eyes, up the nose and any other holes and if you sharpen them they make a pretty decent stabbing tool ~ before people get all I kid on a major scale I don't use chopsticks for violence....just self defense...at least thats whats written in the police report
LOL he-he are you being sarcastic? it is hard for me although I've only used chopsticks once or twice and so haven't really practiced with them or anything. chopsticks are piss easy to use. but depends on what sort. chinese plastic ones with a sqaure end are sometimes anoying. the japanese ones are round ended and the korean one are flat metal ones. i found the korean one more of a struggle to use because they are made of metal and have weight rather than the throw away wooden onessahansah wrote:lol ~ I love Spicy food the spicy the better!!!! ~ Although I'm trying to cut on the amount of spicy food I eat...Indian food is great but donner meat? LOL bunch of crap if you ask me I love kebab but not Donner kebab its made from all the reject meat
My bro likes Japanese food I've never tried it I don't even no if theres a Japanese restaurant in my area then again I haven't actively sought one though I really want to try out sushi but I suck with Chopsticks my bro was trying to teach me but I just can't get the hang of it
try to eat asian food with chop sticks at least 3 or 4 times a week. i eat rice everyday and so i use chopsticks, or a spoon if i'm eating curry with rice. if you still can't manage eating with choppies, then spare a thought of the baby asians who have no choice but to practise

at home, we use wooden and metal ones,
usually wooden, metal ones were bought coz my mom wanted the dining table to look 'posh' < i just learnt this word, i hope it's used correctly ^^)
i agree with wujou_mao, the flat metal chopsticks are difficult to use! i don't like it flat! my korean friends told me that, long ago koreans believed that poison in food can be detected if u used metal chopsticks.

only the word mum is wrong W. yeah, nowt wrong with being posh. when i lived at home, the silverware only came out for Sunday Roast on the large table, or at family gatherings like Christmas. anything else it was useally eating on tray with normal knife's & forks.juppie wrote:at home, we use wooden and metal ones,

i find nothing wrong to eat with metal chopsticks. i do find its very formal and i'm happy that most places in Korea have the metal chopsticks. have you seen how many wooden chopsticks are discarded each day in China? millions. at least Korea have the right attitude, no wastage of trees just to make chopsticks. of course, you just have to make sure the metal ones are cleaned
do you think it was hard to eat the top meal with metal chopsticks?
wujou_mao I don't think I could eat any of that with chopsticks never mind the top one....Is that korean food? What are the dishes?
Hmm the thing is though being Muslim I dunno what would be allowed or not....Japanese food consists of alot of seas food I'm not particularly fond of fish but I wanna try out raw fish one of these days

Slightly a bit off topic, does anyone know where you can buy easy to use chopsticks for beginners. It sounds daff I know but I remember years ago seeing some plastic ones, I reckon you would call them a "cheaters" chopstick cos they where joined together, simular to the old fashioned wooden peg if you get the idea.
Also to wujou_mao, in your 2nd pic the bowl on the right, what is it? Its just that my first reaction was oh its fried bugs. lol
btw anyone else noticed that some of the superstores of stopped selling sushi kits/oriental food or is it just where I live?

i can't remember what the top one is. i happened to see a plastic made up one is the shop front window, and took a photo of it with the korean wording on it. i never had a paper and pen handy. a camera has lots of uses. and the below one is beer snacks. of course, you dont have to drink beer or korean rice wine to munch on these tit bits, but being Muslim, you cant eat pork to touch alcohol right? if you're in Korea on hiols, just expalin no porksahansah wrote:wujou_mao I don't think I could eat any of that with chopsticks never mind the top one....Is that korean food? still, it was hard to explian to the staff in China while ordering food that my backpacking mate can't eat seafood due to allergy. never could understand some words are just not in a phrase booklet.
oh, and incase youre wondering what the yellow shell things are in the bottom picture. they are silkworm chrysalis
Silkworms hmmmm sounds tasty
Hope your friend came out alive and kicking
