NHAI extended the FASTag Local Pass to 121 plazas on August 18, 2026. Residents within 20 km of Ladowal Toll Plaza qualify for Rs. 360 unlimited monthly trips. Apply via Rajmargyatra App.
Rs. 360. That is what a resident within 20 km of Ladowal Toll Plaza pays for unlimited monthly crossings at this plaza. Single-trip car rates at Ladowal exceed Rs. 150 per crossing. A daily commuter recoups the entire monthly pass fee in a single round trip. Most eligible residents have never applied because doing so previously required a physical visit to the plaza and manual document submission.
That changed on August 18, 2026. NHAI extended the digital FASTag Local Pass to 121 toll plazas across India, including Ladowal on NH-44 near Ludhiana. The application now happens entirely through the Rajmargyatra Mobile App. DigiLocker verifies the residential address. VAHAN confirms the vehicle registration and linked FASTag. GIS-based verification checks whether the applicant’s address falls within the prescribed 20 km radius.
For FASTag recharges and toll payments, Bajaj Pay, the Bharat Connect payments platform on Bajaj Finance, shows the exact top-up amount before you confirm, through UPI, cards, or net banking.
What the Ladowal toll plaza local pass actually is
Ladowal Toll Plaza sits on NH-44, near Ladowal village, approximately 10 km from Ludhiana city on the Phillaur-Ludhiana stretch. NH-44 connects Srinagar to Kanyakumari and is one of India’s primary north-south road corridors. Thousands of residents from surrounding villages and Ludhiana’s eastern suburbs cross this plaza daily.
The local pass is an NHAI-designated concession for non-commercial vehicle owners living within 20 km of the plaza. The nationwide NHAI base rate for the digital local pass is Rs. 350. The Ladowal Toll Plaza-specific approved rate is Rs. 360 per month for eligible non-commercial vehicles for FY 2026-27.
NHAI also offers a National Annual Pass priced at Rs. 3,075. Unlike the local residential pass, it is not unlimited. The annual option is capped at 200 trips per year across the national highway network, making it a different product for a different use case.
Single-trip car rates at Ladowal exceed Rs. 150 per crossing. One round trip already costs more than Rs. 300. Every crossing after the first return journey that month costs the local pass holder nothing more.
Who qualifies for the Ladowal local pass
Eligibility is set by NHAI and verified automatically through the Rajmargyatra App. Four conditions must all be met.
| Condition | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Residential address | Within 20 km of Ladowal Toll Plaza, confirmed by GIS |
| Vehicle type | Non-commercial mechanically propelled vehicle only |
| FASTag status | Valid, active, and linked to the vehicle |
| Verification | DigiLocker for address, VAHAN for vehicle registration |
Commercial vehicles and vehicles with inactive FASTags do not qualify. Residents whose registered address falls outside the 20 km radius are ineligible. The GIS check runs automatically and cannot be overridden manually.
How to apply for the Ladowal digital local pass
The application is entirely through the Rajmargyatra Mobile App. No physical visit to the plaza and no manual document submission is needed. All verification happens through DigiLocker and VAHAN with the applicant’s consent.
- Download the Rajmargyatra App on Android or iOS
- Create or log in to your NHAI Rajmargyatra account
- Go to the Local Pass section and select Ladowal Toll Plaza from the eligible plaza list
- Grant consent-based access through DigiLocker for your address and VAHAN for vehicle details
- The GIS system confirms automatically whether your registered address falls within 20 km
- On confirmation of eligibility, select the monthly pass at the Ladowal-approved rate of Rs. 360 for FY 2026-27
- The pass activates on your linked FASTag and crossings are recorded seamlessly at the barrier
Verify that Ladowal Toll Plaza appears on the current eligible list at rajmargyatra.nhai.gov.in/buy-fastag-local-pass before beginning the application, as NHAI is continuing to expand the rollout beyond the initial 121 plazas.
Keep your FASTag balance sufficient after activating the pass
The local pass links to the FASTag. Every crossing debits the FASTag account. A FASTag with zero balance triggers the double-toll penalty even when the pass is active. The pass does not override an insufficient balance.
Keep the FASTag balance above Rs. 400 as a practical floor. Recharge before it drops below that level.
Steps to recharge your FASTag for all NH-44 plazas through Bajaj Finance:
- Open the Bajaj Finance app or visit bajajfinserv.in and log in
- Go to Bills and Recharges and select FASTag Recharge
- Select your FASTag issuing bank from the list
- Enter your vehicle registration number or FASTag ID
- Enter the recharge amount and review before confirming
- Complete the payment for an instant Bharat Connect receipt
Other toll plazas and FASTag recharges
The digital local pass is now live at 121 plazas nationally with more rollouts planned. For commuters crossing multiple plazas on NH-44 or other national highways, a single toll FASTag recharge through Bajaj Finance keeps the account funded across all participating plazas under the same FASTag.
Ladowal Toll Plaza sees daily crossings from thousands of Ludhiana-area residents. Most have been paying per-trip rates for a commute that qualifies for unlimited monthly access at Rs. 360. The digital application via Rajmargyatra removes the final barrier. One download, one DigiLocker consent, one GIS check, and the pass is active on the FASTag already in the windscreen.
