The movie features some of the biggest stars in Hollywood including George Clooney, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, and Brad Pitt. The movie centers on how a gang of thieves plans to rob $150 million from a casino owner and had a lot of box office success. It turned into the 5th highest-grossing film of 2011 and brought in a total of $450 million.

Casino Royale

This is a James Bond movie and like most 007 movies feature a lot of scenes at the casino. This movie is based on Ian Fleming’s 1953 novel called Casino Royale and Daniel Craig took on the role of James Bond. This was the third screen adaption of Casino Royale and was based on a high stakes poker game that took place at the Casino Royale in Montenegro.

Bond enters the casino to try and bankrupt a terrorist financier at a poker game and the plot unravels from there. It has all the drama and excitement of a typical James Bond movie. Fast cars, hot women, hi-tech gadgets and a lot of action throughout the movie. It turned out to be a big hit for the producers as it was ranked the highest-grossing bond film till Skyfall came out in 2012. Poker players who are always looking out for that big real money win will enjoy this movie!

The film was shot in Macau and the director has done a great job in balancing comedy and action. The film received a lot of publicity and as a result, two sequels were released in the following years. The film stars Chow Yun-fat, Chapman To, Nicholas Tse, and Jing Tian and runs for an hour and a half!

Tazza: The High Rollers

This is a South Korean gambling movie which was released in 2006 and received a lot of rave reviews. The movie centers around a pack of players who play a popular card game called Hwatu in South Korea. It turned out to be the second best-selling film in 2006 and saw a total of 6,847,777 people watch the movie in South Korea alone.

One of the players loses all his savings gambling and then loses his family’s savings after being cheated by a rogue gambler. He then looks to get mentored by one of the best gamblers in the country and get his revenge on his perpetrators. The directors have done a great job in spinning this plot twist and adding in the right balance of romance and intrigue. This movie stars Cho Seung-woo, Baek Yoon-Sik, and Kim Hye-soo.

God of Gamblers

If you like watching some of the older Asian flicks, then you got to check out this movie. God of Gamblers is a Hong-Kong action-comedy drama that hit the screens in 1989. The movie features top actors in Yun-Fat Chow, Joey Wang, and Andy Lau.

The movie centers on a gambler whose fame is known world-wide as he is able to ace any card game. However, he keeps his identity hid from the public and avoids getting his picture taken. The game completely revolves around the gambling scene and is a thriller that will still get you to burst out laughing every now and then. The movies run for two hours and is available in Cantonese only. It turned out to be a big success that a sequel was released ‘God of Gamblers 2’.
