The theory of knowledge presentation (TOK) is an essay presentation that requires students to show a concrete analysis of any situation in real life. The task is completed by selecting a knowledge question that forms the basis for analyzing the real actualization of theoretical knowledge to real situations in life.

The TOK presentation is completed in groups of students or learners tasked to complete a discussion on a chosen topic. An APA format on the other hand is a writing formula used in academic documents such as journals and articles. It is used as the publication manual for the American Psychologists Association. The article will discuss how a TOK presentation can be done using an APA format.

Cover Page

The cover page comes at the start of every academic document presented in APA format. The APA outline of the cover page includes the title of the paper which is always in bold and written in font size 12. The font of the title should always be Times New Romans. Additionally, the APA outline consists of a list of all the group members that took part in the presentation, the instructor’s name, the institution’s name, the course title, and the due date of the academic paper. All the information on the title page should be presented in bold.

Body Paragraphs


The introduction consists of an explanation that the group thought through concerning the real-life situation (RLS). Also, it should contain an explanation of how the group encountered the RLS in discussion and the impact it has had. Additionally, a knowledge question that the group intends to discuss should be outlined clearly that will form the thesis statement of the TOK presentation. All three components of the introduction should follow each other in the TOK presentation simultaneously to create a flow of thoughts. The line spacing should be double to ensure it conforms to the APA format outline.


The first paragraph of the theory of knowledge presentation consists of the first piece of evidence that supports the topic and partly answers the knowledge question. The presentation should have double line spacing and a half-inch indentation on each paragraph. It should also consist of an explanation of how the knowledge question is tied to the real-life situation under discussion topic.

All external sources included in the paragraph should be cited using in-text citation of APA format of the author’s last name and publication year. For example, when citing a source where the author’s last name is John and the year of publication is 2020 the in-text citation should be. In presenting the points in the paragraphs, the claim should first be stated clearly followed by the supporting evidence to the claim.

Secondly, a counterclaim should follow with its supporting evidence to give a different dimension. Finally, a conclusion on the stand taken regarding the claim and counterclaim stated should be given. The flow of ideas on each paragraph represents a proper APA format outline required for the presentation.

The consequent paragraphs should follow a similar APA format outline as the first. Following the outline gives the theory of knowledge presentation a proper flow of ideas that a reader can easily comprehend. Mentioning claims, counterclaims, and a stand gives the TOK presentation a proper direction and creates the purpose for what the group is presenting.

Additionally, images used in the TOK presentation essay require citations. An APA format paper should be original and also credit the source of any image used in the presentation.

For example, if an image is from an article written by an author named Janet Jin in 2019, the image should be cited in APA format of the author’s last name and year which is (Jin, 2019). In APA format, pictures are treated similarly to numerical data and require citations to credit the source.

The body paragraphs contain all the critical information a TOK presentation intends to communicate to the reader. It should be written in proper APA format so that a reader can locate all the critical points and understand the information the presentation intends to pass.


The conclusion is the final part of the body paragraphs in an APA format outline. The conclusion entails a summary of all the points presented in the presentation. It gives an account of what the essay is all about and the actions the essay recommends regarding the discussion topic.

It should have information given in the entire presentation accompanied by support evidence of personal insight from the group. It should also give a clear direction of what will be adopted in relation to the topic of discussion and the real-life situations mentioned at the start of the theory of knowledge presentation.


References are the sources the presentation gets its information from. In APA format, references are presented as a list that gives the different sources the group got its information from. All the in-text citations should reflect on the reference list which helps show the originality of a paper. A reference list is essential because it shows the pieces of information used by the group to come up with an original paper which is a critical requirement of writing a TOK presentation in the APA format.

In conclusion, a TOK presentation written in APA format should contain a cover page, body paragraphs, a conclusion, and a reference page. The whole paper should be written in Times New Roman font with a 12 font size. The line spacing should be double with a half-inch indentation at the start of each paragraph. The title page should consist of the title of the discussion, the group members’ names, instructor’s name, institution’s name, and the due date.

The body paragraphs should each give claims, counterclaims, and the stand taken by the group in APA format outline. Also, all information from outside sources should be cited using in-text citations. The conclusion should give a summary of the entire paper and the action to be taken with regards to the discussion topic. Finally, all sources cited in the presentation should be listed on the reference page to credit them.
